Looked at manual says have to redo radio presets, steering wheel angle, window auto down function, and couple other things after replacing battery.

Picked up the Wally World battery today running around for work. I ain't scared of a China battery it has long warranty. China AGM last 6-7 years in my bike.

Didn't have to do any of those when the dealer replaced mine under warranty. They just swapped it in the parking lot like you would in years past. They didn't even reset the BMS...

It says the steering wheel will self calibrate on straight road. Plenty of that going to work in morning. Not sure about the windows. That is an odd one to me but my 2011 didn't have so many modules.

AGM charger on the new H8 to top it off.
I'll put in truck maybe Friday when I have daylight.
Truck can't seem to get over 65% SOC on the little H6 even on long drives. Hoping for better with the big ass battery in there.

Even w/ hvac 5 trick? It overrides both my F150 and mach-e BMS.

All ICE (still not a fan of that term) here, not PB.

Dealer put in non-AGM H6 battery before I bought the truck used in April. Just isn't keeping up now in cold weather. Being non-AGM is probably confusing the charging system too is my guess. Only just realized that is the case when looking at it closer.

All good, H8 is purchased and I expect I'll get many happy years out of it. I'll charge up this battery and take it to auto store to test it when I get it out of truck. Might be good for others, but my truck doesn't seem to like it. It's a newer battery as far as I know from spring.

When I changed my battery this past January to the H8 the only settings that were lost were the radio presets. Nothing else needed to be done other than the bms reset.

The owners manual lies? ?

I think I'll reset BMS and then drive around in sport mode for a while as @Snakebitten suggested in another thread for the shift learning.

Well... I honestly never looked at the owners manual. I went with the instructions in the Ford shop manual. Which didn't say anything about resetting windows, or anything else other than the PCM shift strategy relearn.

Try the trick out anyway. Just use a volt meter to see what happens with you truck's voltage. You can hook a voltmeter up and set to view through windshield. Engine on, door closed, keyfob in truck, cycle between blower 4 and blower 5 and see what happens to the voltage. I'd like a definitive answer so that we can help ICE F150s as well. The BMS is still controlling alternator voltage just as it does on the PB and the mach-e. I'm betting there's a greater than 50% chance you'll see that it will boost the voltage.

Hmmm well I can look at voltage from OBD2 to whatever module it is reporting and the port itself pretty easily. Might do that this morning going to work. I have a soft DTC event for over voltage since apparently truck is trying to ramp up voltage to get the battery to charge. ??‍♂

62% SOC last night squeezed in an update.
55% starting truck on 26F morning.

Has anyone installed a Costco AGM H6 or H7 battery? Was there today and they have Energizer (60/100 month) or Kirkland (48/100 month) brands. Your thoughts?

Duralast Platinum H7 for me - haven't had a battery/shutdown issue in 30000 or so miles since I swapped it in.

Finally dropped in the new H8 and got the aftermarket H6 out of truck.
Forscan couldn't reset BMS but the 5x light flash 3x brake pedal did fine. Confirmed truck sees 0 days on battery and 86% SOC. I expected higher SOC since my AGM charger said it was full.

I did set BMS target to 85%.

I don't think I've had over 70% SOC since buying truck in April with the little battery. Been down at 50% last few weeks with mildly cold days and it isn't winter yet. I think I'm safe now for the cold season. :)

Only hiccup is now the truck says it is scheduled to install an update tonight it already installed. I think that is a bug in current APIM software with so many reporting it now.

Definitely recommend everyone go with the biggest battery that will fit H7 for PB and H8 for the rest of us. It certainly can't hurt to have extra capacity and it fits. :)
