OP - Do you own a PowerBoost? If so this pan, or any aftermarket pan will not work.

Seems like there still isn’t a pan available for the PB

I wouldn’t want a black coated pan. The black paint will hold a slightly more amount of heat in the pan.
Actually, black helps radiate heat, probably more than the coating retards it.

OK, I could understand that if the pan was on top and the heat sinks allowed heat to radiate upward. Since the pan is facing the ground, I didn’t think that was a deal.

I thought it would act more like a heat collector as black always does. A black truck in a sunny parking lot is gonna be hotter inside than a white truck in a sunny parking lot.

Actually, black doesn't 'collect' heat, it 'collects' light which is converted to heat in the underlying substrate (thus the hot metal / hot truck interior). Lighter colored or shiny surfaces reflect light better, thus the cooler surface / interior, but don't radiate heat as well. It's a subtle but important difference.

In the absence of light insolation (as under a truck or in the dark), black surfaces radiate heat better. A black truck parked under cover / in a garage gets no hotter than a white truck (both will eventually equilibrate at ambient air temperature; if the truck is hot when parked in the garage the black truck will radiate the engine heat quicker).

BTW, the degrees of difference (pardon the pun) in all of this insofar as the tranny pan functionality is likely fairly insignificant / academic. The point of my original comment was just to offer the opinion that black is OK and there's no reason to do anything radical like blast it off.

Any paint, regardless of color, will have some insulating qualities. It would be a small, probably even insignificant amount, but still there. I would invest the minuscule amount of non-radical work that it takes to bead blast it clean because I prefer the look of raw aluminum, and I would want to remove that tiny bit of insulation from the surface because it makes me feel warm and fuzzy 😁

The real reason for wanting to install an aftermarket pan is to improve the serviceability and increase the amount of fluid it holds. At 30k intervals, a “dump and fill” will replace a greater percentage of fluid, and at 60k intervals, emptying the fluid through a drain plug before removal (to access the filter) would simplify things.

I appreciate everyone’s input. The biggest thing I was after was info about the hardware and how close the kit’s bolts are to OEM. Their description and what they call “OEM studs” doesn’t fill me with a lot of confidence. I was hoping to find someone who is familiar with this setup.

Aesthetics is another matter entirely, no worries! (y)
