Has anyone installed the BD transmission pan on their 10R80? I'm just wondering if it's worth the extra $100 to get the kit, which comes with the pan bolts and gasket. It seems everything would be re-usable from the oem takeoff. I know that the gasket is. Maybe the flange of the pan is thicker and needs longer studs?

Just thought I'd ask if anyone here is familiar with this particular pan.

I did the PPE pan when I did the trans cooler upgrade. I’ll be honest even the cost of the PPE pan felt high I couldn’t imagine paying over $400 for a transmission pan. I re-used my bolts and gasket and had no issues. Mishimoto offers one and comes with hardware, and it’s still cheaper than BD’s kit.

If you look at the 10r80 on the BD website, it actually shows factory hardware coming with it.

personally, I would go with PPE. I wouldn’t want a black coated pan. The black paint will hold a slightly more amount of heat in the pan.

I agree about the paint. I actually plan to bead blast the black off for that reason.

I did consider the PPE, but I saw too many that had to grind cooling fins to get them to fit. There are also many options and some don’t offer a higher capacity, and some that do won’t work post 2020…and mixed messages from vendors. I’m just a little concerned about pulling the factory pan and finding that I can’t put the replacement on.

What I saw on their website is that the pan including hardware is $423. Without hardware, it’s $335. Just wondering if the OEM hardware can be reused on it, or if it’s better to pay the extra.

I also considered the Mishimoto, but it uses their exclusive O-ring. I like being able to use the factory gasket. They’re available at any parts store. Mishimoto does make good stuff tho. Haven’t ruled it out.

PPE has a design that should allow for better airflow through the “heat sinks”.
A factory gasket style would certainly be a desirable trait as well.

Don’t think you can really have a bad choice here.

So the reason I posted that is it shows the OEM hardware being added. So no, I would not get the kit. You already have a reusable gasket, you already have the hardware that is holding your pan on.

There’s no reason to spend the extra hundred dollars for another gasket and a set of hardware

Ah. Gotcha. I guess I didn’t realize that those actually matched the factory set.
Appreciate your help

OP - Do you own a PowerBoost? If so this pan, or any aftermarket pan will not work.
