Looks like the battery in my 22 XL is already starting to get weak. I thought I remember reading that folks were having issues with the smaller battery and them failing prematurely. At the same time, I guess it's not a surprise as the battery in my 2013 Flex died after about 3 years as well. What are you guys installing to replace/upgrade the battery?

In my observation the Ford batteries are defective. I replaced mine at month 5 after several check electrical system warnings going down the highway at speed (when such a warning was non-sense). I was on the road for Thanksgiving family dinner. I just pulled into a local NAPA place (I'm a NAPA kind of guy) and bought their off the shelf, drop in replacement battery. That was three years ago. I've now gone thru 3 Wyoming winters (as low as -40ºF) without a peep out of the system. I do recommend you do a "wetting down charge" on a brand new battery (I do that based on my experience w/Nuclear Submarine batteries). That's a low rate charge (1 or 2 amp rate) all the way to completion (mine went for 10 hours). That ensures all Active material in the battery is activated. I've had flooded cell batteries go as long as 8 years. Not sure of the anticipated life of these style batteries, still learning about them. But the basic chemistry is lead-acid and such things as a wetting down charge remains a good idea. So, at the end of the day go get a good, non-Ford, battery, give it that wetting down charge... and go for broke!

Looks like the H8 would be the biggest battery that will fit in my non-PB tray then. I don't run anything but AGM batteries and haven't for years now. Debating going with the largest Yellow Top that Optima makes, which is technically an H7, as the specs are better than a lot of other H8 options. Might also consider an X2 Power or Odyssey (supposedly the same battery these days). The X2 Power Group 94R (H7) has pretty close specs to the Yellow Top, but has a 4 year free replacement warranty compared to 3 years on the Yellow Top. They're also about the same price retail, but I think my shop gets a heavy discount on the Yellow Tops.

Same issue with my 22 KR. Replaced with H7 NAPA Legend and no more problems.

Replaced the OEM battery on my 21 XLT with an Autozone Platinum H7. That was a year ago and haven't heard a peep out of it since. Fixed numerous electrical gremlins.

I went to a ford h7 and it’s been great since the switch, my stock lasted only a year.

I am an optima/odysesy guy but I didn’t want to wait on shipping so I went to Walmart and got their H8 and dropped it in my 22 xlt. No problems in 10 months. Nice thing about it is if it does need warranty there are Walmarts on every corner.

AGM H8 fixed every issue I had. I got it from Costco.

Yeah, that's why I don't order "speciality" batteries anymore that I can only get online. At least if I purchase a battery through a local auto parts store or retailer (O'Reilly's, Napa, Walmart, Costco, etc.) I can get another one locally pretty easily to replace it. It looks like currently the H7 Yellow Top (their biggest Yellow Top they make) is available same day through pretty much any store that sells Optima. I've had great luck with the O'Reilly's Super Start AGM batteries over the years as well, but kind of wanna go special for this truck, plus it'll match the other yellow accessories. lol

Picked up the largest battery Optima made in a Yellow Top, which is an H7 from O'Reillys as I get a large discount on them. My truck originally had an H6 in it. Got the battery tray all cleaned up and wiped down as well as the new battery. The old blanket fit the Optima battery fine, so I re-used it. Did the BMS reset, road tested around the block, and cleared faults from all the modules with my scan tool. All good to go. Hopefully no more deep sleep and low voltage issues. Thanks for all the help!

It actually lives outside for the most part. I just try my best to keep it clean when I can. lol Yes, it came that color from the factory. :)

Love that Ryobi Yellow. One was delivered to dealership along with mine. I was like, I’d take that color if it were available.
