Just replaced my factory H6 battery in my 2021 due to getting the dreaded low power save mode notices. Swapped the battery in the costco parking lot with the H7 Energizer AGM for $280 CAD (5 year full repalcement, prorated after that). Thought no sense in in going to H8 if it is covered.

Will note the battery wrap fits perfectly around the H7. But my issue was the bolt wont go back on and looks like the bolt threads are stripped. Does anybody know part number for this bolt? Hopefully i didnt ruin the threads on the battery frame side.

Also, i read about the BMS, does it just reset after 8 hours? I do have Forscan but wasnt sure if i need to do something like reset BMS or if i shoudl be changing the SOC settings from default as i do drive long distances. Also i disabled auto start stop in forscan.

The BMS reset is simple. nothing is required to do it.

Reset Battery monitoring system (BMS)

Key on (button on) engine off, notice battery light solid red
Flash the high beams 5 times
Step on the brake pedal 3 times
Wait for battery light to flash and then go solid
Key off
Reset complete

For your ‘21 here is what your owners manual says about the BMS (says it will need 8 hrs off and locked to learn the state of charge).

https://www.fordservicecontent.com/...A&div=f&vFilteringEnabled=False&buildtype=web

Unfortunately only doing that, the BMS will still think it’s an old battery and charge it inappropriately unless you reset the BMS which zeros the age of the battery. You use Forscan or FDRS or with the procedure above to reset BMS. The procedure above are listed in the ‘24 manual here:

https://www.fordservicecontent.com/...A&div=f&vFilteringEnabled=False&buildtype=web

Note that procedure is not in your ‘21 owners manual best I can tell.

I also believe you need to use Forscan to tell it you changed to a higher capacity battery or your state if charge will be incorrectly calculated, I think. The 24 owners manual says you must replace battery with exact same specifications for that reason. With Forscan you can adjust that.

I don’t think there’s a difference in the BMS between 21-24 but the information is certainly different. Good luck. The above is how I understand it to work.

I just replaced mine yesterday with an X2 H7 (due to low SOC and up to 20% loss overnight from Ford battery) and noted the same issue. I couldn't get the bolt to drop far enough to grab the threads. After quite a tussle in and out..., noted the keeper nut/washer on the underside of the bracket was bent and beginning to chew up the threads near the shoulder. Removing the keeper allowed it to drop in place.

I had trouble getting the reset done, but finally I saw the flashing battery icon, although my OBD Battery Age (mos) still indicates 35 instead of 0. I followed the "Battery Sensor Reset" instruction on p. 495 of the '22 Owner Manual.

"Flash the high beam headlamps five times, ending with the high beams off."
PUSHING it to high beam and back did work. (Why?)

I'd not heard FORScan was required for a battery replacement. I would imagine if that were so there would be a recommendation to take to your dealer(?)

BCM reset completed.

Regarding the bolt, it is stripped to crap. Called dealer, no replacement bolt available and the whoel tray needs to be replaced.

Fortunately for me, i found a bolt in my garage, and it fitgs perfectly and was able to get it to grab and pull down and bite. Battery is secure!

I was going to suggest that a hardware store will have most of the bolts used, but your own garage is even better!
