Bought BAK Revolver X4S in Oct 2023. All in all had good success until we were driving down the highway at 70 MPH and experienced 40-60 mph crosswinds when the tailgate area lifted up about a foot and broke all the cheap plastic, bent side rails, and the ends extrusion in the rollup section.
Waiting to see how they will "take care" of this after sending examination, pics, video (yes, it was latched down :)).
Yikes, before pulling it I was pretty surprised at how easy you can simply lift it without “unlocking” it via the pull cords.

Good to hear, hoping to get mine ordered this week. I’m just waiting on RT to take this back, sent them a ton of pics covering all the nonsense etc.
RealTruck is pretty good at returns (at least my one experience with them). They sold me a rack that they assured worked perfectly with the BakFlip MX4 I referenced above, but it wasn't even close to working; caused the BakFlip to sit up about 1/2 inch so that you couldn't lock it down.

Took a while (what with emails back and forth and photos, etc.), but they did accept the rack back, paid for return shipping, and I received a full refund.

So I think you'll do okay! Fingers ?.

(Now of I could only figure out what to do with the Putco rack I bought afterwards that did fit (but not using because the MX4 was awful and I went with a topper).)

These are bad pics but I put a drop of super glue on the bottom of my little corner pieces to keep them from popping out. I would think this would be an easy fix if they just made it a solid block and put in a screw to hold it in instead of little flimsy clips.
Overall, I am content with the cover but I did cut off/trim the little rubber gasket/weatherstrip. It was just getting balled up in that crack because the glue they use is poor. The other side isn't trimmed and is staying in place.

The whole thing is a good design but it could be better. With tons of these being sold despite Real Truck not fixing these relatively minor flaws tells me they aren't interested in making the product better either.

So glad this is packed up and ready to go back. I noticed during assembly they only used two improperly sized screws per corner on the locking mechanisms, the screws were so large they blew out and cracked two of the corners. No wonder this thing won’t stay “locked”. Grabbed a pic of the crooked rivets too.

Meh. After a year and a half and over 16,000 miles, suffering in the Florida sun, mine is doing fine.

@Realtruck - Pretty slimy... Lesson learned, I hope others will learn as well. Had the cover on for all of 20 minutes. I received it Thursday. I then installed, removed and packaged it back up on Friday. Pics and everything sent to you on Friday etc.

Called back and they are going to re-visit this with a supervisor. I'm really hoping they do the reasonable thing, I offered to pay return shipping if needed. They said I should hear back in another day or two, we'll see.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
I had an X4S on my 23 f150. When I got through with installation it leaked in the back. I climbed in, The Queen closed the tailgate, and there was a line of daylight across the tailgate. Called factory. "it is normal. It fits other trucks as well". I lost it. She finally gave me some more weatherstripping to shut me up. My plastic clips also do not hold well, but were "surviving" until someone conveniently turned left over a blind double yellow stripe into my lane. I totaled the truck because I had no time to react since it was a blind turn.

I will not use another X4S on the new one after that last experience. The concept is intriguing however. I am interested in other similar applications made by competitors.

Wish they had a sun resistant, reflective, say white vinyl cover to keep items in the bed cooler. Maybe there is a white vinyl paint that would work? Meanwhile, I get all these yellow pollen droppings on the black vinyl. I used Costco glass cleaner to scrub them off, but worry a bit that it might be not the best for the vinyl. Vinyl cleaners did not work as well. Any suggestions on my dilemmas? Thanks.

They ended up sending me a pre-paid return label for a refund. Thanks @Realtruck!

I've been holding off on a tonneau and kept coming back to the BAK revolver design but have been hesitant given some of bad reviews around the end caps breaking, freezing, leaking etc. It sounds bad and I'm chuckling that I even gave it a shot but there are also a tremendous amount of positive reviews. Misery loves company I guess, not sure. After having one in my hands I feel like they are brittle, shoddy, and fit for a $450 price-point max. I recorded a quick summary video, worth a gander if you are considering a revolver.

We're a preferred BAK dealer... and I could not agree with you more. It's a bunch of the "little things" as you put it that when added up make for a bad experience (if your cover has them).

When we get them shipped to our store for installation, they come on a freight truck. So they don't end up getting damaged. BUT we see those corner caps breaking off constantly when covers get shipped .That's why we stock the replacement caps for our customers.

The shavings we've noticed as well. Again we clean them when we install them but yeah we noticed them.

As for the seal... it all depends on the cover. Some cover we see them not having a lot of extra some do have a lot of extra.

I'm actually going to share your video with the RT team.

I'm not sure where you got your cover from, but I'd reach out to your re-seller about getting the cap replaced.

It's good to hear on the installs y'all check everything!

I ordered it directly from RT. They initially weren't going to give me a refund but thankfully ended up honoring a full refund after I sent a ton of photos. Have a look at the ones I posted further on down, here is a link directly to the post. Notice the missing screws and cracked latching mechanism corners from using screws that were too large? Do you ever see that on the shipments you get? If not it might be worth sending those along too, I don't have any contacts or relationship with RT.

Part of the issue is the current plague of influencers. I've directly contacted 3 who raved about this top and asked (politely) if they noticed any of the extremely obvious issues that many have dealt with and crickets... I get we have to put food on the table but don't go pretending to look out for fellow enthusiasts by gushing about something while entirely omitting obvious flaws. It's like a liability proxy where the company no longer has to claim the product is good, they can just give a few hundred away and have anyone with a camera & a truck claim its good and then ghost the community.
