After the gen 14 has been out for awhile now, does anybody have any recommendations for rear speaker swap out? Would like to replace my rear door speaker on my 8 speaker system.
Thanks in advance,
Rich

Welcome to the club :giggle:. There are several threads about this issue, I am yet to find a solution where just swapping the rear speakers alone will be enough to actually hear them.

Thank you for the responses. Looking for a speaker that will match up with the eight speaker rear doors, B&O

I replaced the rear door speakers with components and they are being powered by the factory set up. This made a huge difference in terms of being able to hear the rear speakers in the front stage. It does require drilling into the rear door to accommodate the tweeter. I am planning on adding an amp as was done in the post linked above because I do hear some distortion coming from the speakers at max or near max volume. I assume the factory ACM is struggling to push them.

Do have this on a 8 speaker or Unleashed system? If I were to replace the speakers would it make sense on a 8-speaker?

I have the Unleashed, and yes, I think it would help in the case of the 8-speaker system, as well. They are the same crappy door speakers for both systems.

I've had good experience with MA products over years, so I went with these front and rear doors. I used a Metra adapter to fit the 6.5" drivers in the front doors where it brings 6x9's from factory. It made a HUGE difference in SQ and in being able to hear the rear door speakers.

These speakers are rated at 125w compared to the factory 25w ones, so at very high volume with high-frequency sounds, I do hear some distortion, but that is due to them being underpowered by the stock DSP and not due to the speakers themselves.

Thanks. I believe the 8 speaker with even less power (10xxW vs 600W) would make them even worse as these will be underpowered.
Ill try to find something with a lower power rating.

If you're keeping the factory amp, look for high efficiency. The higher the db number, the more sound you get for given watt of input. The whole max watt ratings are moot here. You want the most amount of sound per watt fed to the speaker.

The unleashed has more power because it pushes more speakers. I don't think there is a significant difference if any at all in terms of how much power each system sends to the individual door speakers.

Agreed. The set I got is 93db which is about the highest I saw versus other components comparable in price.

Any updates on the distortion issue?

Better than stock and worth the time and money still?

I haven't added the aftermarket amp yet. I do hear some clipping at max or close to max volume with high frequency sounds, but yes, it is an improvement over stock and I would do it all over again.
