The rear speakers are indeed very week in volume with the B&O 8 speaker system. I did find if you switch from “Stereo” to “Surround Sound” they are a bit louder but still are not nearly as loud as the fronts.

Well, the update did not fix it. The rear speakers have very little volume to them. If I move fade to the rear, you have to have it cranked all the way up to basically have normal volume out of them. Move fade to the fronts and they are working fine.

I understand basic stereo setups and the rear should be a filler, but I was expecting more from the rears than what they are now.

If someone can check their 8 speaker B&O system and see if they get the same results? Maybe I am just crazy at this point?!?
I agree, the rear speakers sound terrible. My fronts sound great. If you sit in the backseat the sound is terrible. Did you upgrade the rear speakers? If so, what did you buy? I installed a Rockford Fosgate P300-12T powered sub today. It sounds great but the rear speakers sound horrible.

I just played around with the tone settings and balance and fade and found a setting that sounds OK for now. Crazy that with all the tech that they can only provide a 3 band equalizer!

I set mine to stereo, moved the fade to around the cup holders in the back of the armrest, brought down the mids to about 40%, and cranked the bass and tremble to be about 80-85% or so. Mostly listening to Pandora via Android Auto or SiriusXM and it sounds pretty good to me that I wouldn't spend $ on an aftermarket system. Between 10 -30 years ago I had a few different two 12" or two 10" systems in a few cars running off dual amps most of the time. It's definitely not that good. But maybe I'm just getting older, but I still like to crank it a bit when I'm solo in the truck, but not regularly. ymmv.

My rear speakers also have little to no volume. Took the truck to Ford because one of the rear door speakers was bad and popping. The service department didn't think the extremely low volume in the rear was normal and has been trying to get an answer from Ford. Ford non the other hand keeps saying that's the way it supposed to sound. We are both scratching our heads on that one, paying extra for an upgraded sound system that you can barely anything out of the rear speakers. It's going back in tomorrow for recall work and (and a newly discovered oil leak) they are going do some more diagnostics on the stereo system. I'll let you know what I hear.

I had a similar issue on mine a month or two ago.. started off with the loss of volume after a longer drive; turning it up on any audio source would not result in a significant change in volume. That particular issue went away after the truck sat overnight; I assumed it was some sort of heat protection for the amp after prolonged use.

A also had the issue with the loss of sound at the rear speakers.. I think it also went away with time, but its been awhile since I have faded the sound more to the rear (I do this sometimes for the rear passengers if I don't want to hear the music, as my ears get sensitive to noise with longer drives).

I've had alot of software updates in recent weeks.. I'll try to check and see if the problem is still there.

lol, I just made a post about this before deciding to search on adding an amp for the door speakers and came across your post. I'm gonna go to the dealer and listen to the stock system to see if it does the same thing. I feel the same way, paying almost a grand for an upgrade, something isn't right. I have had custom systems before and decided that I didn't want to mess with installing a system and since I was ordering I might as well just pay for the upgrade.
