If you come across someone doing something to the PB's, do share. It's got the same basic rotating internals that can be upgraded -- the hybrid engine connect clutch is somewhat of a black hole online though. Ford counts the clutch, electric motor, and torque converter as a single item despite the clutch itself being comprised of trans clutches and steel plates. It's quite the endeavor to go into such a project blind.

Given that they treat the hybrid drive unit as a non serviceable item, there's nothing in the service manual regarding it.
You're right, I'd assume the big issue is what the connecting clutch could hold power wise since it's between the engine and trans. I gotta imagine if you could get ahold of a spare one and have a trans builder poke at it they probably could find a way to upgrade the clutches in it. It would be nice to have some sort of engineering specs on it though beforehand.

Found some vids regarding this exact topic. Poor 5.0
(TL:DW 3.31 EB more than handle OP's situation, out performing both gear ratios in 5.0)
3.31 3.5 vs 5.0 8klbs towing / acceleration tests

5.0 w/ 3.73s performing the same test.

So I have a 22 Lariat 3.5 ecoboost with 3.55 and electronic locking differential. It's a 2wd and I love the combination. Never would use 4 wheel drive because it doesn't snow much in Louisiana and ELD is all I need. I tow and launch a 20 foot bassboat up wet ramps and rarely use the ELD. I always tow in tow mode, and get about 16.5 mpg when towing. City mpg is 18 and I get 23-25 mpg on the highway. The 3.55 does not hunt when going uphill. It's strong and fast. I had the same questions when I ordered this truck. Glad that I went with the 3.55

I had a friend as me to help him buy a 2025 F150 to haul his enclosed trailer with 1930s car in it. I had just gone through the rear axle selection process for my 2024 Lariat and thought I had things figured out. Wrong! It's all changed for 2025 with limits on what axle ratio goes with the 5.0 and which goes with the 3.5 and which ones can have tow-haul and/or max. Read this thread to help with my confusion. 2024 had a lot of flux, 2025 still does (venting)

I have 2024 F150 XLT , tow/haul, 3.55 electronic locking axle. We tow a 5500 lb tandem axle travel trailer into the mountains during the summer. FYI, we follow the advice of putting it it Tow mode and locking out gears 9 and 10 and this keeps the engine and Tranny from running too hot. Our truck is rate at approx 11000 lbs towing and 1800 lbs payload which is plenty for our needs,, and it performs well. I think U should also consider resale value when building / buying Ur truck. If it is well equipped for light duty half ton towing that will increase resale. Good luck!

This is an interesting conversation. The 10 speed transmission with the Eco Boost sure seems like a "do all" combo.

With the 3.5 eco Boost, how will a 3.55 vs the 3.73 handle 65 pound tires?

Does the 3.55 seem sluggish?
