Sticker says auto start stop delete. What does that mean? Doesn’t the engine automatically stop due to the nature of the hybrid system.

It’s standard with the power boost. Because of the Chip shortage they remove the option and button from all F-150. My 2022 said the same thing. The PowerBoost automatically switches between gas and electric. So you essentially have auto stop and start. The powerboost does not have a regular electric starter, it uses a belt system to start the motor.

Sorry to butt in, But the PowerBoost still has the normal EcoBoost Starter as well. I believe it is only used on cold starts though. After then engine has been running, (Im sure there are a set of conditions that need to be met) Then it will using the belt starter or the traction motor.

For Power Boost trucks, it means nothing. It's too bad Ford left that line item on the window stickers of PB trucks. It confuses things.

The traditional auto stop/start feature is only on ICE engined vehicles. including normal Eco Boost engines. When working, the Auto Stop/Start feature will shut down the ICE when stopped at stop signs, and stop lights. It will restart the engine as soon as it detects pressure being removed from the brake pedal. When this feature was removed from F150's, a $50 credit was put on the window sticker.

PB trucks did not get this credit because they did not have the traditional Auto Stop/Start feature.

I have never heard the traditional starter engage on mine. Doesn't matter if it's 100 or 13F outside the ICE has always cranked up with the belt driven starter/alternator unit. It must be a pretty rare event for it to switch to the flywheel starter vs belt starter.

Or it just starts so fast I can't tell..

It would be great to see Ford's Logic on how all that works. What conditions have to be met for which starting protocol it decides to use. I've definitely heard the flywheel starter. But not often. Maybe it depends on the amount of charge in the EV battery? I believe the flywheel starter only runs on the 12v battery under the hood. So maybe if you go to start the truck and the EV is low it will use the flywheel starter? I know the only times I've heard it are the few odd times the ICE starts immediately when pushing the start button.

I have somewhere the documentation that Ford provides that explains 4 different "conditions" for starting the ICE on a Powerboost.

Only 1 of the conditions will use the traditional 12V bendix flywheel starter.

I will look for it and post it here for clarification.

It’s quite rare. I believe it needs to be excessively cold or the hybrid battery state of charge must be too low. I’ve heard mine 2 maybe 3 times in 28k miles of ownership
