So I just bought my truck and I’m fully connected to Apple car play, but I’m running into a little situation. I like seeing waze on the main screen and my music on the right screen (I have a 2025). Well every time I turn on my truck, the screen defaults to Waze in the full screen but goes to navigation on the right screen (even though the last setting was music). The music is at the top of the list which I would assume it would default to the top (music) but it doesn’t. Is there a setting I’m not seeing? I’ve done my due diligence but I’m not finding anything. Thanks for the help/advise in advance

My 21 does that as well with AA. I think the card screen defaults to nav on startup because Sync hasn't connected to your phone yet and doesn't find Carplay.

My '24 does the same most of the time. Occasionally it will put music on the right by default, but not often. I think Kanuck is right about the reason. It seems like sometimes it will connect to Carplay faster and that's when the music shows up on the right. It's a bit annoying, but I've gotten used to just hitting the up arrow when needed. I wish there was a setting for the default.

My 23 seems to hold the last right side screen for me.

FYI there is a TSB for AA and CarPlay that just came out. Could mention to dealer and get update.

Mine randomly does this too. Usually all it takes is cycling the CarPlay full screen option a couple times to fix it. If that doesn't work I just disconnect and reconnect the phone to restart Carplay and it's fine after that.

How do you sync that?

That’s interesting. I have my setup just like yours (Apple maps on the main screen, audio on the right) and on start up, that’s how it remains set. That’s weird that it’s different for some vs others. I have a ‘21 btw.

Could depend on what versions of software that is being run in the different modules on the truck. It is unknown what sequence the different modules start communicating with the networks.

My 21 does the same thing. Waze on the bigger portion and Fords junk nav on the right side. I've just gotten used to having to cycle to the radio. Sometimes it "remembers" that the radio was there last and goes automagically but 9/10 times it's Waze/Ford nav.

Not helpful I know, but no clue why it's like that. Maybe I'll learn something from this thread too lol.

Yea it’s super weird! These last few times that I’ve actually got in the truck it has saved the last settings, but every now and then it goes to that BS Waze/ford nav ?

I was having this fight on our new '25 Maverick (sync 4).

It would put whatever I chose from CarPlay on the Ian section, and ford stuff (usually either nav, or the ford display of what was playing on pandora).

when my already low phone was losing charge while in the magnetic bay doing nav and pandora, I connected it by usb to try to get some charge into it.

at that point, it went to apple play on (nearly) full screen, stayed all apple when using split screen, and has remained there for a week so far.
