"Should"?

Maybe it "should" but my 2022 Job 2 Lariat with Max Tow
  • Did not have the 7/12-pin connector on the bumper (had the 7/4-pin connector)
  • Did not have the required fully-populated truck-side wiring harness for attachment to that connector (it only had the Yaw Sensor wires in the truck-side harness)
Note that the 7/12-pin bumper connector is included in the TPMS / Cam kit for the trailer (the fully populated truck-side harness is not)
Gotcha, I'll go take a look at the connectors.

The first two pics in this post may help guide your investigation regarding the 'harness population' at connector C439.

Please post your findings.
Here are some pics from underneath. So I would remove the 7 wire connector, replace the existing trailer connection, replace with the one from the camera kit and then attach that other connector with the two wires to the new trailer connector?

Your truck, like mine as delivered, lacks the wires needed to support the TPMS and cam (the connector in your pic needs more than 2 wires).

Work your way back through this thread, the solution (involving replacement of the harness with the '2-wire connector') is described in detail.

I suggest you first verify that under the trailer towing section of your IPC menu you find that your truck does in fact have the trailer TPMS subheading (which will show nothing connected) and that on your 12" display you have a 'soft button' for the aux/rear cam (which will show a blue screen with no cam connected).

Good Luck, Have Fun!

Man between Ford dropping my connected Nav and subsequently the Co-Pilot 2.0 Assist and then promoting all this intelligent “pro trailer backup assist” stuff, to the point of offering the camera/TPMS during the build, some of this feels like we got duped and it’s very much not plug and play.

Ill take a look back and see if I’m down with the harness replacement. I’m already going to try to deal with adding the 2.0Assist so this is just “one more thing”.

Was it Ford not explaining or describing what properly or would you consider this “normal” delivery of this type of option?

Honestly it's not my nature to go down those paths, IMO it's just not a good use of my time or energy (I save all that for what I can change, not on things that are past that I can't change). Perhaps an attitude that comes with advancing age (and at 70 I've certainly got that!).

I just take the 'hand I'm dealt' and move forward from there. In this case with help from this thread I was able to 'draw the cards' that yielded a 'winning hand', hopefully you can do the same ;) :)

FYI, if needed, here's a post explaining FORScan mods needed to enable TPMS on the IPC and Aux+ cam on the 12" display.

Good Luck, Have Fun!

@BLoflin The place doing repairs on my truck is quoting this as the "rear harness".

Wire Assembly ML3Z-13A409-J | TascaParts.com

That's totally different than what others seem to have had installed. Is that a completely different harness/location?

I was hoping I could just order this and have the repair place put it in instead of replacing the one that's in the damaged bumper with the orginal.

Cheers!
Sorry, been away from the forum for a good while. I haven't really kept up with any parts changes since I chased it down last year. Best bet would to keep trying until you find a parts guy at a dealer that seems to know his stuff.

Just want to add to this...

I spent a good deal of time with a Ford parts guy today and we went down a rabbit hole of trying to find the correct replacement harness for my truck. We came up with ML3Z-13A574-P as the latest and greatest part number for a truck with single exhaust, max tow, tow tech, rear sensors but NO park assist (4 sensors versus 6).

I should be getting the harness on Friday and will update here if it is correct or not.

Well, back to the drawing board as the -P harness was not even close. It didn’t have the ‘smart’ portion of the harness at all, just the main 7-pin trailer adapter.

Is there anyone out there that has found the correct, working harness for a truck with parking sensors but no park assist AND single exhaust? I know about the dual exhaust harness being able to work but I would really like the proper harness if at all possible. Everything I’ve seen is wither for a dual exhaust truck or has 6 sensor adapters (I only need 4).

Just FYI if/when you get tired of the delay and search .... it took me about an hour to lay out my single-exhaust / 4-sensor OE harness next to the dual exhaust / 6-sensor harness and carefully unwrap / transfer the taped-on plastic clips etc. from the former to the latter, then simply clip-off the extra sensor wires.

I used the point on both harnesses where the "Tee" between the the 7/12 pin branch splits to the bumper-sensor branches as my common index point for measurement to locate the things different between 'em..

The result is the 'proper' harness, indistinguishable from OE even upon very close inspection.

Yeah, the exact 'correct' harness would be nice, but I've already received far more than that hour's effort in benefit from mine.

Good luck with your search.

@Buyer2021 thanks for the reply. I will likely have to go that route as I’ve wasted enough time trying to find ‘the right one’ lol

Would you mind sharing the exact part number that you ordered and worked as you described? I still seem to come up with a couple different ones even for dual exhaust trucks. Thanks!

*EDIT* just went back and it looks like you ordered -TFA ??
