Any reason to prefer a '25 over a '24?

XLT 302A 157". I've got one ordered but Ford seems to be reluctant to build it. Others have build dates for the same truck on orders placed after mine. So I've been inventory surfing and have found a '24 that checks all the boxes. I'd actually prefer the '24, as it has the 18" PVD wheels that are currently unavailable forcing me to upgrade to the 20's in order to stay on schedule....which still hasn't come. My initial thought about ordering a '25 was that its one more model year for Ford to get their issues sorted, but it that really true? Are there other reasons to prefer the '25, or maybe a '24 is a better package? Potential pricing on the '24 is a consideration, but not at the expense of fewer issues with a better sorted '25. Thoughts?

I don’t believe the 25 is more sorted than the 24. The 25 has lost a few more features. One could get better pricing with a 24, even traveling to another state or having it shipped.

I agree with this. I think a lot of people are getting hung up on issues at this point. All modern vehicles have some form of an issue and late 23 to 24 model years seem to be the most sorted I've seen in years all things considered.

I would pull the trigger on a 24 if you like the truck. My dad is in the process right now of buying the 100% identical truck to mine. The dealer I bought mine from over the winter had a few completely identical trucks. Every single option and feature was the exactly the same.

He got a good deal on it and he's flying down to where I live down south. It's a good time to snag a 24 if you like it and can get a good deal since it's over 50% of the way through 2025

They uped the cost of the 302a package by $5k and I believe removed the door key pad for 2025. Get the '24.

I agree with all above. Are there particular issues you've heard about with the '24s that have you concerned? I think a lot of people get hung up on the latest model year being the best but many automakers have shown this to not be the case.

If you found the perfect truck, I'd cancel your order and jump on it.

Nothing in particular, except maybe the Max Tow axle, which I presume new production trucks will come with the update. And I suppose (presume?) new production will be delivered with all the software updates, up to and including the latest. Are dealers updating everything on '24's pre-delivery? The continuing software updates - and the apparent difficulty in delivering them - sure indicate to me that Ford doesn't think the trucks are fully sorted.

I care nothing about having the newest and greatest, and prefer an end-of-model-run production year. As far a de-contenting, I'd love to be able to buy a truck absent alot of the "stuff" I'm forced to buy in order to get the basics I do want - power adjustable seats on both sides, tow morrors, something other than black or grey. Would by a XL in a heartbeat if I could get it.

They did remove the keypad, but at least on a 157 EB, the difference on the sticker can be covered with your hat...

Dealer with a truck on the lot for 7 or 8 months might have a different idea.

I'd go with the '24. Lower price, has the features you want, and has all the features that were deleted from the '25 such as the keyless entry. You might also want to check to see if it qualifies for the service campaign 24B57 where Ford will give you a $785 credit toward the purchase of accessories - would be enough to pay for a tonneau cover. Just search this forum for "24B57" for details.

I started looking at F-150s in mid-2024 and couldn't find a regular cab short bed anywhere. Even the dealerships had NONE of them in stock. They tried like hell to get me to take a quad cab or XLT but I wanted the RCSB. So, in January 2025, I factory ordered a 2025 black XL 4X4 5.0.
It was delivered in late May. The only options available to me was the 103A package which gave me chrome bumpers, LED fog lights, a running board and aluminum painted rims. There is no keypad or remote start. You get a FOB for the door and tailgate locks but the ignition key is a "switch blade" style key that springs out of the FOB. (You have to manually fold it back or it will stab your leg in your pocket.)
I was disappointed that I couldn't order bigger than the 17" wheels but I was told that option was not available at that trim level and neither was a rear-exit dual exhaust. So, maybe the 2024s had more to choose from?
My future plans are a cat back system, 20" wheels and maybe a cold air intake. Otherwise, I'm not at all disappointed with the truck. It's quick as hell.
Anyway, the list for the truck was around $54K. With my trade in 2012 Ram ($4200), employee pricing plan and a couple of other incentives, I paid just north of $42K.

I’ve had two 2024’s and Ford told me that neither qualified. One was built in April 2024 and the other in August 2024.

2024 is much better, 2025 has a lot of de-contenting and weird choices like the removal of buttons above the infotainment.

Since the trucks are so similar, resale value would be the only reason to get the 2025.

I took notice of the recalls and potential problems and spent the money I saved on my trade-in to pony up the 100K warrantee. I paid in full and plan to drive it into the ground, dig it up, and drive it some more.
