I have a 2022 F150 502A and I can honestly say I am almost completely done with trying to use Android Auto in this vehicle. Holding a phone call through hands free is next to impossible. Most times the call kicks back to the phone handset after as little as 2-3 minutes. The infotainment screen shows the call ended and the radio will start to play again, assuming you were listening to radio prior to placing the call. I have to then pick up my phone, go to the volume settings and prompt it to switch from Bluetooth to handset. As far as the phone is concerned, the call is still with Ford Sync. Other issues are simply random issues to even have Android auto appear on the screen. Most times I have to restart phone and restart the infotainment screen to get it to connect. Quite often if I listen to Spotify through Android Auto and then my phone receives a text, the chime plays, Spotify stops and there is no way to get the music to replay. A lot of times when I first start the truck the infotainment screen is black and stays black for a long time. Often the Ford logo appears and disappears 3-4 times before I see my normal screen. I am so tired of the randomness and my dealer is useless in any assistance. Has anyone had similar issues and have you found a resolution? Thanks.

I have the same issue with Android Auto not appearing on the screen or connecting. If I look at my phone, is says its looking for Android Auto so I assume its the truck and not the phone. Its been worse lately.

I had some issues with mine. Mostly, the problem for me was my phone being connected to other blue tooth products. When I get in my truck, it automatically turns on wifi, which is ok, but if the phone is connected to certain items by bt, it won't connect correctly to the truck.
If the phone is connected to any hearing device when I get into my truck (ear buds, hearing aids, other speakers), it will connect to the truck for music, maps (usually) , but not for calls. If will show calls, but it doesn't usually play them through the truck speakers. At that point, the only way to reconnect is to turn whatever "speaker" the phone is connected to through bt Off (but leave bt on), turn off the truck, open and shut the door.... wait like 10 seconds, open and shut the door again and restart the truck. Then it will connect for calls.

I do know of a couple spots between my house and work where it usually looses all connectivity for about 5 seconds. I haven't figured that one out yet.

Also, apps like fitbit, aura, ring cameras, etc (which are connected to your phone through wireless) don't show up in bt on my phone, there could be something connected to your phone that is interrupting the trucks connectivity that you don't think about. .

I'm not sure how to look up those apps that would be doing that, but possibly through the apps location on the Android.

Have you guys tried deleting your phones from the truck and deleting the truck from your phone then reconnecting and only using wired AA? I had these issues with CarPlay and that fixed it for me. I am
Wired 100% of the time and never have issues now and on top of that there is a noticeable sound quality improvement

Also there are a lot of junk, non-compliant USB C cables out there. I would make sure you are using something you are 100% sure is compliant from a trusted brand

Some trucks have an APIM update available that is supposed to fix some of these issues. I updated last week and it wasn’t there for me yet so I can’t speak for it but others have noticed a positive difference.

In the past, i have deleted from the truckand phone and reconnected. It does help sometimes.
For the last 6 months, I plug in every time I get in, but it still doesn't connect for phone if I'm connected to something else.

I just switched from an Iphone (on ios18) to a Pixel 9 Pro (on Android 15) and it has dramatically improved with respect to connectivity/glitches. However, I still experience an occasional disconnect if trying to use wireless Android Auto. I have found for both Carplay and Android Auto that the wired connection (with a good cable) has been a much better experience overall on my 22 F150 Lariat with the 12 in display.

Yep, agree with the wired connection with Android Auto. Been much better since I started using that all the time.

The most recent APIM update 24127 improves phone connectivity drastically, but this is a known issue and Ford has an update coming in Q1 of next year to further address it. As mentioned, use a wired AA only connection and use an OEM USBC to USBC cable. Enable developer settings on the phone, and disable wireless Android Auto. It will make a huge difference in AA performance and music streaming quality if you do use an app with lossless/Hi-Res audio.

on the truck, you can also disable wireless app projection to further disable wireless android auto and CarPlay in the connectivity menu

And update phone and it's Apps. Some of these issues come and go with AA and CarPlay version, and your OS. And Samsung Blue Tooth stack is notoriously not good. Other BT devices and Apps can be at issue. And of course WiFi, use a compliant Type-C cable to diagnose.

Thanks to everyone for all your suggestions. I am running a OnePlus 12R and everything is up to date. I have deleted all phones from my truck, deleted the truck from my phone, have done resets, tried wired vs wireless, all fail. What's the point of all of this technology if it does not work? Why should we be forced to plug in our devices to get them to connect. For some, as mine is equally bad wired vs wireless. I can't even count the amount of times I have spent the entire drive trying to connect my phone. This is far less safe than a device that just works. I personally feel this is 100% a truck issue. I have tried at least 5 different phones and all have the same issues. I mentioned APIM issues but Ford will not just swap parts until they confirm they are broken. In my case I am told all is ok. I have 6 months warranty left and that is all they are waiting for to be rid of my complaints. I was hoping someone on here may have found a fix. Thanks for all your support.

As you, I have a OnePlus 12 and have had nothing but frustration with wireless connectivity to my '23 F150 with the 12" screen. I've basically given up and use a cable 100% of the time.
The OnePlus is an awesome phone. The F150 is an awesome truck. They just don't cohabit wirelessly.

Do you feel it's the phone or the truck? I feel it's the truck. Do you get many black screens on the infotainment screen? I would say 1 in 10 starts the screen is black.
