Have you really gotten to 150,000 miles? Isn't that the change interval per the manual?

Not from me. I have driven trucks for 25 years, always two wheel drive. Ford in their infinite wisdom has dictated that I must get a 4 wheel drive if I want a hybrid. Just wondering if this is a thing, or if it is similar to oil change discussions.

AMSOIL 75w-90 is what I used.
Whats the verdict on Ford denying a warranty claim since its not an approved oil in the workshop manual? I have a bunch of AMSOIL 75w-90 I would like to use and document for warranty purposes but its not the approved 75W-85.

Dunno…….but the brand difference isn’t going to be an issue. But that’s your call.

*** I did have a mistype, the fluid I used from AMSOIL is actually 75w85 not 75w90 as I thought. Another good idea to keep records and receipts.

Honestly, in the last 42 years of operating vehicles, I’ve never had a differential issue that I didn’t directly cause. No gear or bearing failures due to wear or lube failure.

Unless a factual showing of warranty refusal is at hand, I cannot believe use of AmsOil 75W-85, or any other name brand gear lube, would bring on a warranty refusal.

The recommendation by Ford is to change this out every 150,000 miles. No reason for a light duty pickup to worry much about whether the Ford or a third party product is better. With the OEM product there are no worries about damage to the seals.
