You're the YouTube guy, right? You've got some good content on there! How has your truck been since the last time you had it at the dealer and almost started the lemon law process?

Yep that’s me. The truck has been solid since it’s 60ish days in the shop for the EGR part. It was very frustrating at the time but I’ve regained some confidence in the truck since getting it back.

Glad to hear it! Gotta check now to see what you've posted recently... Haha. Keep 'em coming!

I've been unable to locate a Ford Performance CAI.

Do you have a link and more importantly would you recommend this unit over other options, and if so, why?

Thanks

What I've realized is that I'm quite capable of getting 22 mpg out of my Powerboost, but it's really not so fun driving it that way. Doesn't mean I don't care about fuel costs, it's just that driving it more normally and installing AT tires (already ordered) is worth some trade off, for me.

I do hope I can average at least 20mpg overall, any less than that I'd consider a bit wasteful.

Mine is a stock 22 Lariat with 3.5 Eco-Boost. It just turned over 5000 miles. I am getting 16.9 in the city by the truck's calculation. I am going to upgrade from the E-88 to the premium and see if it makes a difference. A couple of weeks after getting the truck we took a trip from Iowa to Texas and back and it was averaging 18.6-18.9 mpg. What happened? I know city driving has a lot of stop and go's. I have not had the chance to take another long trip with it yet.

Anecdotally it all comes down to speed, at least for highway. Non-hybrid 3.5 here, 17.7 MPG is my normal mix.
Long drives when it's not crazy windy?
65 mph: ~24 MPG
75 mph ~19 MPG
95 mph: 9.5 MPG (over about 5 miles too)
Camper shell on the back, mostly flat geography, ~500 to 800 feet ASL.

Edit: There's a stretch of tollroad near Austin that's posted 85 MPH, so 95 is "really only just ten over, ossifer."

Cold German weather kills my MPG - always. Otherwise the 5.0 is fairly good at cruising. But I drive a lot city at 50km/h in city so... The highway is long trips, not mixed.

This is very similar to what I see as well, but I haven't tested 95 mph yet :). It reminds me of a '73 Thunderbird I had a long time ago, which was an awesome car. That car rode like a big ship on the ocean, but it would fly down the road. It looked similar to the car in the picture below with a huge engine bay that I could have probably stood inside to work on it. I had very little money back then and I don't think I ever calculated the MPG, but I think it was around 12 MPG. I have exponentially more income now and obsess over my gas mileage -- maybe I should take a queue from my younger self.

I have a ‘22 Lariat Powerboost with 22K and I get between 21-22 mpg and 25 mpg on highway trips. The only issue that I had was a leaky heat exchanger which my dealer replaced within a few days. Other than that it is a great truck

My 2002 powerboost crew cab long bed w/ 18k miles gets pretty lousy mileage, all stock. Ford advertises this truck as 23city / 23hwy but I get 16-17.5 city and 16-16.5 highway. I don't hot rod my truck and I stay within a couple mph of the speed limit. My truck is a Lariat, has a fiberglass cap, bed slide, and tow mirrors. Yes I'm a little heavier with the cap, I have the dumbo ears sticking out, but to loose 6-7 mpg over the advertised numbers to me is robbery. These numbers are hand calculated not from the dash. Is it too much to ask for it to come close to the advertised numbers? My wife's 2020 Escape is right on the numbers, why cant the truck be. I've gone to my dealer, there is no codes so no way to tell me if something isn't right. On top of the poor mpg, I have had issues with the truck rolling backwards in drive, rattles on start up, dead peddle, poor shifting, etc. Some the items have been fixed with programming but not all. I've always been a Ford buy but I'm finally at my boiling point with this truck and may look elsewhere. Don't get me started on the shit mileage I get when towing. The only good thing I have to say about the truck is the generator is great.
I have a 22’ platinum powerboost stock, I average 18-19 mpg. It depends ALOT where you live. I’m in central coast Ca so lots of rolling hills and grades no flat roads in sights. The sticker mpg they get is tested between 48-55 mph highway, look it up. I don’t know anyone driving highway speeds under 65 mpg so good luck with that. At 70mpg on long road trips I get about 20-21 mpg about 600 miles on a tank. I’ve noticed powerboost owners with the 18” wheels from factory get better mileage seems like over my 20” wheels. In total my wheels/tires weight 83lbs, 42 per wheel and 41 per tire. The f150 tremor with 18” and aggressive tires only weighs 75 lbs per wheel…. Also, seems like people in cod weather environments get shit mpg because the truck is constantly starting back up to idle so the exhaust gases can heat up the batteries and if you have it on eco idle even worse. I’m gunna be switching to some venomrx 602 wheels to save some weight and increase mileage and performance soon, will update if you want.

Recently had my best run. Variety of freeway, back roads, and highway. The freeway trip I was behind a bus and going 70+. I was shocked to see the mpgs rise. I found that on my daily 22 mile commute of I set the cruise at 61 I don't feel too slow and I can nail 23. I could have pushed 700 on the tank if I wanted to dare go that low.

157 wheelbase, king ranch, 4x4, bedcover, no other real mods.

That's an interesting observation that I haven't really paid as much attention to. I have 18" factory wheels/tires, and I seem to get better mileage than many other people reporting their poor PB mileage. I don't know their weights--I haven't yet pulled a wheel off to measure it.

High profile tires will absolutely get better mpg, they also perform better. There is a reason every racing series in the world runs the smallest wheels they can while still just clearing the brakes.

That said, the 22s look dope!
