I was a little bummed out when my truck arrived and the Snow Plow switch had been replaced with a Hill Decent switch and the Snow Plow activation was moved to a touch screen menu.

But then I tried Hill Decent driving down a steep, rocky, rutted road...

Hill Decent works great!

I found a new FX4 truck online and snapped a photo of its dash to compare with mine so I could figure out what split switch they use when adding HDC to these regular cab trucks without all the options. You see that they used a 3-switch bezel instead of mine that has just 2 switches. So I need to see what 2 switches I’d use in my truck - that came with auto stop delete ($50 credit).

Note that this truck has 3 switches, no nav, but does have HD Radio - because it came with the B&O sound system (a crew cab model).

My truck has no auto stop, so no switch to turn it off. I need a pair of switches to perform 4 functions, not 3 as it is now. Simplest for me would be a split switch for both the rear camera and HDC. Otherwise, it’s a split switch for camera and something else with the other switch handling the remaining two functions. Or maybe I have to go to 3 switches and a new 8” center bezel like the one shown?

Using the VIN at the top of this thread, I got this result:

https://parts.lakelandford.com/show...ne=69043&ukey_trimlevel=163196&modelYear=2021

You see that they offer several different switches depending on your options. I need to find the 2022 version of this diagram as my own VIN won’t resolve on the parts pages yet!

This is a great write up! Can't wait for my truck to come in so I can do this. May have some questions when it comes.

Nice! Can I ask where you got your switch?

I am getting ready to do the mod. Where do you run the wire from the new switch to the lower connector?

It's on the first page of this thread. It goes behind your A/C controls. There is a "D" shaped connector there and the picture shows you where to hook it up.

Not where it connects, that I get, but where to route ( a better word) the wire? simply behind the trim pieces that were removed, or down behind the 12 inch display? Is a fishing tool needed?

I just ran it beside the 12 inch display

If anyone needs the same button as Livinitup, I have a brand new in the sealed bag SW8524 / ML3Z-13D730-RA from Ford that I can sell and ship for a discount. I accidently ordered the wrong one for mine. I thought mine was the same as Livinitup but mine is actually SW8514 / ML3Z-13D730-KA (which is on backorder unfortunately).

Edit: no longer have the spare switch.

Hey guys. I have my dash apart but I cannot get the dang terminal to seat all the way into the plug. Like pushing on a rope. Suggestions?

Update: I was finally able to seat the terminal by using a paper clip. Everything went back together with just a little difficulty with the console side trim.

I have yet to run Forscan to make the needed modifications, but when I pushed the button the decent control was displayed. I was not expecting that.
