Thought I would throw a pic of an XLT mid button in the thread for you guys while I’m working on my dash.

Nice - I think this is the one I need. Is this one that you ordered? I'm having trouble finding it online (especially with the lack of product image detail on most sites...)

Finally finished with this mod. A couple of small issues, but I was able to get past them. I finally got around to programming today and ran into an issue. The setting in the IPC module did not match what the OP stated. I end up using the “easy” method and just enabled it. The other two changed were no problem.

Thanks to the OP for doing the hard work. Now to get the transfer case replaced and 4A working.

My truck has it factory. I just had them out replacing my screen so I took a pic as mine are the XLT ones.

I just completed the install on my 2022 Lariat and it went smoothly. Only small thing was I had to remove the two pieces of trim on the sides of the center console to get the climate controls out which wasn't in the PDF.

Also for anyone fighting to get the pins into the plugs there seemed to be a plastic cap on the front of both plugs that came off and then the wire easily went in the back and clicked into place. It was red on the switch plug and grey on the other. Not the best description but I hope it helps.

I did make one mistake, I thought that the part number listed in the OP (ML3Z-13D730-RA) would be correct for my truck as I have the chrome on my buttons but it was not. You can see in the picture below that the left side of the TC button does not fully fill the hole. I'm now on the hunt for the correct button...

I think its Part #: SW8514. " Hill Descent Control Switch, Traction Control Switch, 10/12/2020, F150, F-150, With Hill Descent Control, Less Automated Parking System, With Front Parking Aid, Multi Function Display - 12". "

AFAIK any 12" screen gets the chrome trim on the buttons.

SW8524 (ML3Z-13D730-RA) for the other switch is for the BlueCruise trucks, where the buttons are all in one big line.

Ah, this is helpful. Can anyone confirm this is the correct switch for an XLT (302A)? I have no chrome on the current switches and it would be nice to keep it that way, if possible.

Weird. Every image I've seen for 302A shows the chrome trim on the top.

Is yours the Trac button on the left, too? The only non-chrome one I saw was the Hazard/HDC button, not the Trac/HDC one.

EDIT: Oh duh, that's the one you probably need:

Ah, my bad... I didn't think I had the chrome accents, but just verified and... I sure do. Sorry for the goose chase :)

Apologies in advance for the remedial question here.... Regarding the wiring. Do you create a "t" on the #12 wire out of the c214 connector and provide your own wire and terminal up to the c2304 connector?

Or do you simply cut the #12 wire from the c214 connector and put a new female terminal on it and run it up into the C2304 connector? Simply stated does the C214 connection no longer need the #12 wire?

Thanks all - read this post 15 times and I'm still not there yet. If you have pics that would be great.

Did anyone ever confirm the correct switch part# with the silver trim the top but has the angle on the left side traction control so there is not gap.

You populate pin 12 on the larger connector with a female terminal. It's hard to see the empty slot in the pic because it's behind two other green wires.

The splicing is in reference to buying Ford terminal kits WT1001 & WT1002 and splicing a wire from each together, so you don't have to buy the loose terminals and proper crimpers to make the harness.

I figured out how to enable HDC (Hill Descent Control) & Rock Crawl driving mode to a non-FX4 4WD. This mod requires the following:

1. The HDC button - in my case it's the split button for HDC & Traction Control p/n: SW8524 / ML3Z-13D730-RA (Note this matches the trim in my Platinum and the p/n for an XLT would be different)

2. Terminals for HDC connector C2304 - pin 4 (female) and inline connector C214 - pin 12 (female) located behind the A/C controls. The Ford part #'s for these terminals are WT1001 & WT1002. These two terminals can be spliced/soldered together and end up being a good length to reach from C2304 to C214.

3. The following FORScan programming (ignore whatever you have where the x's are -
see my spreadsheets here)
IPC 720-10-01 x*xx xxxx xx-- enable HDC Control Function (HDCCF) if your default value is "A" then change to "B"
ABS 760-03-01 *xxx -- - enable HDC if your default value is "4" then change to "6", if your default is "D" then change to "F"
ABS 760-04-01 xxxx xx8x xx-- enables Rock Crawl drive mode

4. Lots of patience removing a lot of trim pieces to access everything. Note: your existing Traction Control Switch is held in place by the protruding prongs on the sides of the switch (see 3rd pic below) and they must be squeezed to push the switch forward out of the trim cutout.

Edit: added the trim removal directions and modified the order of the pdf instructions and removed unnecessary steps.

Edit: My original post stated a male terminal for C214 but I have become aware that it should've been female so the post has been updated to reflect that.
No, that's not the right one. I believe a 2021 XLT would use Part #: SW8522 (13D730) but call your local dealership's parts department to verify this. Here's a 2021 XLT FX4 VIN you can give them so that they pull the right part: 1FTEW1EP6MKD22782

Edit: I'm also not sure if the part # is dependent on whether you have the 8"/12" Sync screen.
So question. The first picture looks like you put the wire in the third hole from the left on the rear but the other picture seems to show the opposite and to place in the third hole from the left when plug is facing you. Which one is it.l
