I have recently purchased at 2021 King Ranch. On the window sticker it shows the Start-Stop function was deleted. Can this be added? If so what is required?

From what I've read different starter, and special stuff bolted on motor to keep oil up in engine longer.

I have it on my F-150 but keep it disabled via Forscan.

My mothers Ford has this enabled full time and I hate it. Every time trying to pull out in traffic there is a hesitation getting moving while engine restarts.

This is a first! I'm guessing the cost of adding this would far outweigh the cost of the gallon or two of gas you would save each year, not to mention additional starter wear and tear.

First thing I do after firing up my F-150 is either push the button to turn off auto start/stop or put the truck in Sport Mode to disable it.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
I'm not sure why someone wants auto start/stop, much less pay for it. This is a stupid idea from the beginning. Running out of power in 100 degree rush hour? Sitting behind a dead Tesla or Mustang, then my auto start/stop does not work?

I bought a special device to reverse the function of my 2021. Now I can turn it ON any time I want it by punching the same button. Which is none.

It's great to know that Foreskin can turn it off. Which seems to be a simple solution. If I were so inclined I could go into my computer and screw up who knows what at the same time.

Part of the system most people forget, and likely why it was actually deleted, was the additional pressure pump in the transmission that keeps the line pressure ready to start back up. Adding this back may be difficult.

I’m here as a start stop fan! In my town I know the lights and specifically the long ones. Ones that are over 1 min. I absolutely will let it turn off then idle. Otherwise it’s a simple button to push. My arm extends out and I push the button. Done.

Auto start stop on an otherwise conventional powertrain is not a feature, it's a goofy and incomplete hybrid that inches the manufacturer's fleet MPG toward a CAFE target.

If consumers wanted fuel efficiency and manufacturers delivered it, that would be great. The issue today is that most consumers are ambivalent toward fuel efficiency and the government is trying to force it on them by legislating compliance onto the automakers. The end result is cars built for no-one, and auto start stop is the post child. It is entirely possible that greater than expected hybrid sales allowed Ford to delete this "feature".

With all the hate auto stop-start gets I'm surprised everyone isn't calling it A.S.S....

I thought I'd hate it too but I actually like it. I do notice the impact it makes in my fuel economy when sitting in heavy traffic or at long lights. Pro tip: you don't need to hit the accelerator to restart the engine. Give the steering wheel a tug.

Why????? I would be happy that was deleted.

Ford gave me $50 to delete it when I ordered my 2022. Fools. I would have paid to delete it.

Mine stopped working at about 6 months old. When I mentioned it to my service manager, he said we can fix it but honestly, be thankful it doesn’t work. They’re a pain in the ass and eventually will kill your starter. He’s received many calls about stranded vehicles because the starter crapped out because of auto start/stop. WORST IDEA EVER!

Ambivalent? Hell, I was runner-up in my 6th and 7th grade speling bee and still couldn't spell it it in this reply. I had to keep trying until the red line went off.

Anyway you are right. I am ambivalent, or maybe I just don't care, about gas mileage.

Stable?
2011 Yukon Denali XL - Premium Optional
2023 Yukon Denali XL - Premium Required, Start/Stop disabled
1974 Olds Cutlass Salon 455 - Premium Required
1961 Chevrolet Apache 10 with 350 TPI - Premium Required
2018 Corvette Z06/07 - Premium Required
2023 GMC Terrain - Runs on lighter fluid
And of course 2021 5.0 F150 Lariat - Regular required and stop/start disabled.

I do hate buying California gas, but hate Gavin Newsome more.

Dallas is much friendlier for gas mileage.

And some people will pay a premium for stop/start, some won't.

And now we have Toyota recalling trucks to replace the motor?

Is this a great country or what?
