When using the adaptive cruise and it recognizes a slower speed and slows down, do the brake lights come on?

There is a 10mph difference in a local construction zone and when it changes from 55 to 45, its fairly abrupt.

Also, same ? re when using just enough brake on a powerboost to activate the regenerative brakes.

Brake pedal has a switch, so obviously applying even minor travel to the pedal will activate brake lights.

I believe other deceleration events activate brake lights if rate of deceleration measures more than some threshold. I don't remember exactly what it's supposed to be. But something like .2 g's?

I was wondering the same thing - I would think it must otherwise that would be a huge safety issue for vehicles following yours.

Yes brake lights come . It sounds like you have the speed sign recognition turned on and it is fairly aggressive. I turned mine off for that reason as people behind me would get annoyed . That and I have some areas with drastic speed changes.

The speed limit that is displayed on the IPC and HUD is often wrong, at least on my truck. For example, there is a four mile stretch of the road I live on that the truck shows 30 mph, when in reality the speed limit is 40 mph. When I cross that 40 mph speed limit sign, the truck temporarily shows that speed, then reverts back to showing 30 mph.

There are several other roads around here where the actual speed limit on certain stretches of those roads is different than what the truck shows.

For these reasons, I have the speed limit sign recognition turned off for the adaptive cruise control.

I turned that shit off……I usually don’t speed by a great deal, but that speed recognition slows the truck to harshly. It’s an accident waiting to happen
Wait till you are doing 78 in a 70 in the left lane and the truck thinks the speed limit just changed to 40 and you brakecheck the tailgaiter behind you.. I'll never let that happen again.

In fact I'm about to unplug the modem and tape over the camera and turn my KR back into an XL

I recently turned on the sign recognition stuff. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I wish it could have different profiles: 45 and lower? do exactly speed limit. above 55? do "4" over. Also, this isn't an adaptive cruise control issue, but I wish the truck would "stop accelerating" to slow down instead of hitting the breaks. Its a waste of fuel and wearing down the breaks, all while being annoying for everyone around, including me :D

Man, be careful around the sign recognition thing. I have it set to On as well but I only use it on the highways. Sign recognition tends to read the wrong signs on occasion. At least once every time I use it it reads an offramp sign or even a sign on an overhanging bridge and tries to reduce my speed from like 110km/h to 60km/h so I have to punch the gas quickly to make sure I don't die.

You can cancel cruise control in anticipation of an upcoming speed limit change, and if you time it right you'll be doing exactly your desired speed as you cross the change and can re-enable cruise (which is now set to the speed you are currently going). I think someone said a new BC update does exactly what you explain, but I bailed long before updating.

But what a headache.

Brake lights come on IF the ACC or any driver-assist feature applies brakes to achieve the speed reduction. If the speed reduction is achieved just by letting-off the throttle, then no brake lights.

IOW, when any of the various automated driver-assist features cause slowing or stopping, brake lights illuminate (or don't) exactly the same as when you cause that action 'manually' / by your own intervention.

I haven't experienced anything scary yet. More like, "why am I going slower than anticipated??" ohhhh right, passed a sign and the truck adjusted back down. Not terrible just new. I suppose I should actually slow down a little :cwl:

Ive been thinking about taking this approach as well. I definitely need to do it at times when the truck is barrelling toward stopped traffic while Im set to 45+ mph ?

Preventing an issue like that is exactly why I turned that shit off
