Active Air Dam Warranty Refusal

Hi All,

I've got a 2024 F-150 with less than 8,000 km (5,000 mi) with the active air dam dangling down on the passenger side. I took it into a dealership, and they are refusing to cover this under warranty, saying this has been caused by "external forces" and is not deemed a manufacturer defect (see picture taken by dealership pointing to the evidence of physical damage).

I got under the truck and maybe I'm missing something but I don't really see any damage, only a missing bolt that connects the actuator to the air dam.

I also took a look at the driver side which is still attached, and the bolt seems to be... backing out a bit (see last pic)?

Are they right to not cover this under warranty? Where could I find a bolt that fits?

I’d just delete it. This is an issue with the dam.

Shipping it to Canada would suck
Just remove it.

I agree with @bjl95mustang . I just went through this with my dealer. They refused to replace a defective component on the air dam, as it’s not covered under the $2500 extended warranty I paid for. They quoted me over $900 to fix it. So, I ripped it off and put together a full write up so others can do the same:

Your a victim of a shitty dealership, i would wash the vehicle up and try another dealer. Or call the Customer Relationship Centre at 1-800-565-3673, I have had good luck going through the CRS. Or do what others say, just remove it.

My dealership (who is usually pretty good) said mine wasn't covered because it was a trim piece causing the issue and the trim piece wasn't covered. BS to me.

If you are unable to get the dealer to replace it the actuator is actually pretty inexpensive just $170. It can be replaced in about 20-30 min if you don't want to delete the air-dam assembly
