I changed the oil in my 3.5 ecoboost today and found this in the drain pan I had under the filter area. I am not 100% sure it fell off the truck, and if it did I assume it's some sort of temporary part/plug that gets pulled off at the assembly plant. It would fit a hole around 22mm (7/8 inch). Any ideas? And yes, I know, it does look like a blow up doll's pacifier.

That is the blinker fluid plug, which is concerning. When those fall off symptoms are minor with a small vibration of the muffler bearing in its thrust housing, but beware it will cause complete blowing of the Johnson rod if not promptly repaired

That’s a plug that goes in the end of a line to prevent debris/items from falling into the line before assembly. Usually they’re removed and discarded.

It's the Johnson rod I'd be worried about. Not only are they expensive to replace, but they are impossible to get, probably because of supply chain issues. It's tough to source a part that doesn't actually exist.

I've seen my little granddaughters sucking on a candy pacifier that looked just like that after they were done.
I'd like to know why she's under my truck.

That's my wife's upgrade ring (for putting up with me) - I told her diamonds are on backordered due to covid

For the 2021 and newer the Johnson rod is now the Johnston rod. I TIG welded my blinker plug to prevent further falling out.

I’m surprised @HammaMan hasn’t solved this with AI yet

I appreciate having a smart digital friend to do complex calculations I'd have to rely on formulas I haven't used in 20 years. Personally I find it to be a bigger leap than the internet itself and when humanity catches on it will raise the collective IQ of the species.

If you're not interacting with LLMs on a regular basis, you're falling behind the curve. My 2 favorite things to do is learn and create and then observe complex systems in action. :)

After all, when the answer to your most complex questions are answered quickly and efficiently, you have time to ask more of them. That said however I've kinda broken my brain. I can't take in information slowly. I watch all vids at 1.5x, under zero circumstances will I stay in a situation in which my time is wasted by an advertisement. I laugh at google's approach to advertising. By the time it provides product suggestions I've already moved on to the next task.

I was being dead serious. Like Zengineer, I also tried Google reverse image search, but that is as far as I was able to take it.

I'm anxiously awaiting access to GPT4 multimodal. Still restricted access. These things are like quantum entanglement -- spooky action at a distance. I was watching one researcher question it about theory of mind and it knew it was being tested. For those who don't know it's basically the ability to understand what someone may be thinking -- a mind reading of sorts, but not. I told it to explain ToM in 2 paragraphs...

"Theory of Mind (ToM) refers to the cognitive ability to understand and attribute mental states, such as beliefs, desires, intentions, and emotions, to oneself and others. This skill enables individuals to predict and interpret the behavior of others based on their perceived mental states. ToM plays a crucial role in social cognition, allowing for effective communication, empathy, and cooperation among humans.

The development of ToM typically begins in early childhood, with children gradually acquiring the capacity to recognize that others have separate thoughts and feelings from their own. This understanding allows them to engage in complex social interactions and navigate the social world effectively. ToM is essential for successful social functioning, and deficits in this area are often associated with disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, which can lead to difficulties in social communication and interaction."

Oh, it's pretty good at it too if you're wondering... and the plugins that allow it web access, that will be great. It's going to up-end all sorts of things. I can't wait for questions to be answered around a topic, can when you can sort for instance signatories of open letters against the public money trails from who has given to their institutions. For instance, say some "researchers" sign onto a public statement claiming something outlandish, or doom-and-gloom. The funding of each individual could be analyzed to see if someone is paying for opinions. It's going to be a great tool for real truth to be revealed. Neural nets are very good at finding patterns humans don't even know to look for. I own enough equipment to power my own and am currently looking at getting one up and running.
