The ambient temperature was 90*F and I initially sent the HVAC temperature to Low with the blower speed at 1. It was ice cold after about 10 minutes and I turned up the temperature to 70*F and it was still very cold. I had to keep increasing the temperature and finally it felt comfortable with at 75*F.

is this normal or is my evaporator icing up?

Your order of operations seems backwards to me. Set the fan speed higher to more quickly change the temp in the cab.

I leave my fan on auto 2 and just adjust the temp between 68-72 90% of the year. ?‍♂

oh ok. I usually leave my fan on the slowest speed (1) because it’s already too cold.

I've begun to suspect that there's a problem with the climate control in my '22 XLT.
- in auto mode, it frequently turns on the A/C, even on cool/cold days. Nothing like a refreshing blast of cold air on a cool or cold but dry day.
- the temperature knob seems to be there solely to keep me amused. It doesnt seem to do much of anything.
- in manual mode, one might think one could influence the temperature of the air blowing from the dashboard vents by bumping the temp up or down. Yesterday with an ambient temp in the 50s, and wanting to warm the air coming from the (manually selected) dash vents, I had to twist the temp knob up into the high 70s before the truck grudgingly warmed the air. And to show its disdain for me, it super heated the air. Putting it back in auto did not change the outcome.
- I've experimented with auto mode quite a bit - leaving it set at 64 or 72 doesnt seem to impact the outcome.

Your A/C problems sound like a variation of my issues. I'm off now to search the forum for 'climate control' to see what I can learn.

that‘s what i feel like like mine is doing. Also in the air flow selector setting on the screen, turning the air flow on and off to the front air vents does not seem to change anything. Air still comes out the front vents when the air flow is turned off to them..

I’ve discovered the most comfortable setting

1. Auto mode
2. Lowest fan speed in auto mode
3. Temperature set to 73*F. Temperature lower than this will be too cold.

these setting worked great for the past few days when the outside temp was 105*F. Before I used manual mode and the temperature was harder to keep stable.

it‘s amazing how cold the A/C gets

Could be worse LOL

but yeah, I would bet good money running auto climate in manual would be a lot to deal with. I just hit auto and the max fan speed I desire (low, medium, high) and adjust the temp til I’m comfortable. In the summer I usually start at 67 and work up to about 69-70…I’m always hot. My problem is in the winter. 60 is not always cool enough in this thing and they won’t let me go below it

Even with manual AC, the system will turn on the compressor if it senses high humidity. Drives me crazy when it is 70deg and I'm just using vents for outside air and it does this since it gets crazy cold instantly. I asked a friend who is a tech at Ford and he said that it is normal. But it is really annoying and the only way to make it stop is to turn the entire system off.

Yes this is what we do. We hover anywhere between 68-73F on the hottest of days.
A lot of the times the vent louvers are pushed up and away.

I usually run mine manual mode, in the face, 3-6 fan speed and temps 64-70 F. Then again, it is hot hell summer year round here.
