Made it home today after 450+ miles. Full report to come tomorrow. I’m exhausted as I got up at 4, flew to Philly, Uber to Chapman, drove 8 hours home. 95% positive things to say about the truck. Chapman was great to work with. Averaged 25 mpg all interstate. 3.5 PB. Goodnight!

So, got the new truck! Drove it home the 3.5 hours, and pretty impressed with the truck! However, there are a couple features I have to figure out how to defeat, or enable, that I haven't had a chance to play with too much yet.

Lane keeping assist requires BOTH hands on the wheel. Especially on the highway, I am a 1 arm on the wheel kinda guy, and the truck would yell at me if I only had one hand on the wheel. I need to get that fixed, or I am just never going to use it.

Android Auto and voice commands. Won't work, at all. Every time I tried, Sync 4 picked up instead. drives me nuts.

The driving while in EV mode at slow speeds. Doesnt sound like an airplane to me, but, like someone is hurting a cat. it's annoying AF. The backup alarm doesn't bother me at all.

Otherwise, it is pretty cool. I figured out the EV coach thing and how to manipulate it to try and get more electric miles out of it. Once I understood how it was trying to teach you, and what inputs I had to put in, I think i got it to about 35% electric miles on my little neighbourhood run. Was pretty cool.

On the left is my '21 PowerBoost Lariat, on the right is my '19 3.5L EcoBoost Lariat that I traded in.

A question for those who have taken delivery already. If you got the tow tech package, which did you get: sensor or sticker? Thanks

Congrats on the truck! I looked up the specs and both trucks supposedly have almost identical exterior dimensions, but the 14 gen looks a bit smaller in the pics than the 13gen for some reason. Was the '19 levelled/lifted a bit?

Here's my take after 450 miles of 95% interstate. Don't mean to complain about anything, just sharing what I think. Love the truck. My kids love it more.
  1. had 34 miles when I picked it up and that was all before it got to the dealer
  2. dealer gave me a full tank (Chapman Ford in Horsham, PA was great)
  3. stock wheels and tires look better in person than in pics, especially the wheels.
  4. color looks better in person than in pics
  5. no rust on the bottom
  6. center console doesn't stay open, gotta do the fix
  7. love the factory FX4 floor mats, not going to change them
  8. active air damn is not broken...yet
  9. love the brown interior on the lariat sport
  10. a/c fan doesn't blow hard enough, but it's plenty cold. it blows hard just not hard as other vehicles I've been in. could be a problem in the summer for rear passengers that are used to having their own climate control back there.
  11. doesn't single or double honk when I lock it. Double press the lock button which is not needed and you get a single honk.
  12. I can use the rear camera and bed camera at any highway speeds but not the front camera as it cuts out at low speeds.
  13. back up beeper is not bad. electric driving hum is annoying and sounds like a golf cart. I won't bypass it though but may try to cover the speaker. Can't hear this sound if there is traffic but in the neighborhood you can hear it
  14. ride is pretty choppy / harsh on very crappy roads around Philly, Maryland and DC. Doesn't smooth out bad roads like I thought it would. Those roads are garbage but it rides great on smoother pavement. No biggie but I Can't imagine going to stiffer 5100 shocks.
  15. turn signal and wipers are on one stalk on the left so you can't flick the stalk to active the wiper just once. you have to turn the stalk to activate the wiper, kind of annoying. you can turn on rain sensing wipers on/off though in the screen.
  16. B&O (not unleashed) sounds fine but no doubt could use more bass, but not a problem at all for me.
  17. Wireless Apple Carplay worked fine for me
  18. ambient lighting is so cool
  19. 502a headlights are great, but not as great as my wife's 2021 Mazda CX-9
  20. tranny is a little clunky but part of that is when taking off the electric wants to get you going then ICE kicks in at the same time as the tranny doing its thing creating a weird combo. If you gun it then it's not an issue but if you light to medium throttle then it kind of lurches a little. I'm going to get FORScan and try to reset the tranny.
  21. approach lighting is cool and so is the surround lighting
  22. the power running boards are LOUD compared to what I thought they would be when they go in and out.
  23. riding on the hwy and trying to get the battery to kick on going down hill is kind of like hypermiling in my mind. nothing wrong with it but not for me. it's easy to do though by tapping the brake but that could bother anyone driving behind you. it wont run on electric if you are going up hill though more than 10-15 mph as ICE kicks in
  24. from Philly to Washington DC I got 27.5 mpg going about 55 in traffic. That dropped to 25.2 by the time I made it home to Holly Springs, NC since my speeds were over 70 on that portion of the drive.
    - lane keep assist is not nice to use with cruise active as your hands are on the wheel and it feels like you are fighting the wheel.
    - if you drive the PB like a normal vehicle around town the ICE will be on almost always. Have to baby it a little to keep it using electric when it can.
    - likely going to pull the rear lift blocks to remove some rake. No plans to add a spacer lift for the foreseeable future.

@Littlefield82 thanks for the right up very informative! Re Chapman how was the process? Had they gone through they truck well? Did you finance through them? If so how did that go? Buy an ESP? If yes how was that? Finally on your drive back did you take any special actions re break-in? Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience

They were great. Had it clean and full tank of gas. Only waited a few minutes to get in the finance office and that process was quick and smooth. Their ESP was not as cheap as Flood but the finance guy is looking into it so I’m buying it through Zeigler Ford. I did 0 for 72 through Ford. Did the credit app online the day before. No extra break in from me other than I’m still taking it easy on the throttle. No full gas yet.

Awesome thanks! If I can still get 0/72 when mine is delivered I will do the same as you there and I had planned on Zeigler as well unless Chapman met their price in which case I would go through them. Thanks again!

Also did the Linex underbody spray last week. Felt a little uneasy having them spray all over all that new stuff but looks decent and hopefully protects. Hope it doesn't invalidate warranty. :)
