You can... I custom paint motorcycles and you can paint almost anything with enough effort. The question on that part is if it is smooth or has a texture on it. I suspect it is different depending on trim level.

Are they worth looking at a leftover 23? Been thinking about it, although I find an XLT with sunroof I like and the dealer says "oh that has rock ridge" or whatever lifted on it and it's $90k no thanks haha!

I was able to pick up a 23 STX 5.0L for 54K with 20" fuel rims Rough Country running boards and a KATSKIN leather interior, also at 1.9% 72 Months March 8 2024! So, if you look you might find something out there.

There is a slight texture that can be sanded smooth. I plan to paint the outer frame to match and leave the center grill black.

If it's ABS, you can sand it and then use plastic primer on it. If it is the softer black plastic that they use, it will be a disaster if you try to sand it.

I have sanded part of it to test and I plan to use Bulldog adhesion promoter prior to painting/priming.

That would do wonders for making the 24s look better.

The ones I saw had a gloss black grill, no texture for a good amount of it.

The XLT black appearance grill was my favorite for 24+ out of every trim.

In researching my 2024 XL regular cab there's lots of aftermarket options if you don't like the factory grill. I decided to wait until I get it in late August and see what available options are then.
