Has anyone that has had 2 or more Powerboost trucks notice a difference in MPG?

My '22 Lariat had a lifetime MPG (21,000 miles) of 23.4. My 6-mile commute to work would often be 26-30 mpg. Light highway (45-55 mph) would often result in a 1/3 of the miles being electric. Now, my '24 Lariat struggles to get 23 MPG on the 6-mile commute, and I have yet to see anything better than 1/10 of the miles on electric on the highway.

Max cargo on the '22 was 1503 lbs, the '24 is 1454 lbs. I can't imagine that's causing the difference.

I was able to "force" electric mode in 30-45 mph zones by tapping the brakes on the '22. I was also able to ease into the throttle and keep the '22 in electric for a block or 2 from a stop. I cannot make either one of these scenarios happen in my '24.

Any ideas? Has something changed with the battery management since the 22MY? I just don't feel that this truck is using the battery as much as the other one.

I’ve only had a 24 PB but the mileage has dropped recently because we are on winter gas. Could that be the problem? I’m getting slightly over 40% electric.

Fuel mileage from the Powerboost has always been very vehicle dependent. My '22 PB has averaged 19.5 mpg over its 57,000 mile life; others have gotten better while still others have gotten poorer fuel economy from theirs. You are just experiencing a bit of that variation with your new truck.

I lose a couple mpg when it’s cold down here. It seems to be the case anyway.

Haha...been below zero a couple of mornings here recently, too; gotta admit I give the truck a few minutes to warm up before I head out in the morning so my MPG suffers in winter for sure.

It took my 22 PB about 25k miles to get up to optimal fuel mileage. Now at 45k miles, lifetime fuel mileage has leveled off at about a consistent 25mpg hand measured. I do have a tonneau cover, original tires, & drive like an old man.

All of the OP's descriptions of the truck regularly kicking over to electric operation apply for me as well.

I've noticed a 4mpg drop going from temps in the 50s to below freezing.

Not quite sure yet how much is wind and how much is actual temp. I do know for sure mpg kinda sucks until the engine warms up.

I had a 2021 PB and now a 2024 PB. I have 1,900 miles and I am at 44% electric. I can lift off the gas or tap the brake and get it into electric mode on city roads. I do get some electric on the highway, especially in traffic.

2021 would average 23 and the same with 2024. (This includes autostart in the winter in N IN.) Both get 27 - 28 in city for under 15 miles.

I think our trucks are amazingly designed to get the mpg they do with the power they have considering the challenging aerodynamics of truck shapes in general. Perhaps we notice them drop out of optimum more readily than say the 2016 Focus my daughter drives which seems to get about 30mpg no matter what lol.

I have found my truck to overestimate MPG by 5-10%. The more towing, the higher the error.

The fuel in winter isn’t the same as summer fuel. It’s made easier to start but has less BTUs.
