do towing mirror for 2024 Lariat comes with chrome section even if I get black appearance package?
I hope not. I saw a MY24 with Tow Mirrors and the caps were all black, and while it was a BAP, truck, I am unsure the trim. It's at Dean Sellers Ford if you check their online inventory.

Looks great!! Great Job.

I added tow mirrors to my 2023, huge difference when driving just about anywhere!

I wanted to follow up. I was able to install the mirrors successfully. I installed my 24' cameras into the 21'-23 tow mirrors. After the install the cameras looked no different on the screen. No issues at all. After work today the dealership confirmed the cameras are working fine and require no calibration.

I spoke with my service department about the marker lights and forscan. Thanks to this forum I found the new value. After a couple you tube videos I was able to find where to enter the value.

After my reward points and a generous discount from my dealership the mirrors only cost $446. OBD link EX was $60. Not as inexpensive as Ford would have charged, but considering the situation not too bad.

I considered power fold and power telescope but I was well over $1000 plus chrome delete. At this time just not worth it.
Can you link or post the values you set in ForScan for the marker lights?

Anyone know the part number for the 2024 Tow Mirrors with cameras so I don't have to camera swap?

You just give the dealership a VIN number off a 24' with tow mirrors. The problem right now is they don't have tow mirror kits for the 24's. This is what my dealership was calling them. On my old Lariat I busted a standard mirror and it was a grand. When my dealership looked into it they were unsure about availability, and it was about 3 Grand for the pair. It's going to be much much cheaper to just swap the cameras.

I just wanted to add that the cameras in the standard mirrors are not the same ones that are in the tow mirrors. I have no idea if that was the case in the previous generation. After a recalibration was unsuccessful the dealership discovered that the cameras are in fact different between the two mirrors. You cannot take the cameras out of the standard mirrors and install them in the tow mirrors...well you can but the birds eye view will be blurry after calibration.

What we have found is if you have done this do not attempt to recalibrate. The picture will only get worse and now they cannot reverse it.

I spoke with the tech working on my truck a couple days ago. He thinks that maybe the lens is different. They researched it and found that there is a different part number. Furthermore it's apparently under engineering review?? So maybe they're working on the part or designing a new one. Not really sure what any of that means.

The amount of misinformation on this is unbelievable. I started calling almost every dealership in Metro Detroit to see if I could find the cameras. About half of them were convinced it was the same part number. The other half knew that they were two different cameras.

A couple of dealerships got burned on this while selling a new vehicle. They added the tow mirrors and discovered it wasn't that simple.

We were hopeful that maybe for Forscan would work, but after attempting nothing changed.

Hows this!?!?! I purchased a 24 F150 PB (presumably built early 2024) in Sept, which came with regular (small) mirrors with camera. I installed new trailer tow mirrors with camera however the left, right and now forward facing camera do not work. Apparently Ford is using a different camera in the later 2024 mirrors therefore any truck with cameras prior to this change (mid 24 and earlier), will not work. One solution was to swap the early 2024 camera from the small mirrors and put in the late 2024 tow mirrors....BUT I don't have those mirrors anymore. I understand changing the camera between years (21-23 and 24 on) but why the hell would they do it mid year????? That scews anyone with a vehicle built early 2024 who put on late 2024 camera mirrors! Seems I need to find Jan-Jun 2024 camera mirrors .l-GOOD LUCK WITH THAT RIGHT!!! Any solutions?

That sounds about right. Ugh! I find this interesting. When my issues first started one dealership claimed there was two camera part numbers / engineering numbers. The cameras that are on my 24' were available, but the other number was not. At that time this was giving me hope. Two out of three dealerships confirmed this. One said it didn't mean anything and didn't know what the other two were talking about..lmao. it now sounds like the two dealerships were correct. The one guy even said it looks like there's going to be an engineering part change or something's coming.

This week I returned to the dealership because my 4x4 actuators were bad. Once again we had this discussion. I knew a couple months ago that OEM trucks that weren't even messed with were having camera/stitching issues. I was told that this was a known issue and they were working on it. I was also told that Ford accessories was working on it. If you notice you cannot purchase 2024 mirrors through Ford accessories with cameras. I have been told to wait until Ford accessories comes out with the tow mirrors with cameras. I've also been told that I should be able to calibrate it through forscan. All I know is I'm a pretty persistent individual.

I was able to get three dealerships involved to hopefully rule out maybe one of the dealerships being full of shit. A dealership that is about an hour and a half away from me has done the most amount of legwork. They have a dog in the fight because they were switching out tow mirrors back when they didn't know it was an issue. So you sell an $80,000 truck and now you can't fix the stitching. They even had a guy bring in forscan. This is how desperate they were. They were the same dealership that told me and I quote "Ford will not help because you made a modification to your truck".There is not a tow mirror manufactured right now with a camera that can be added to your truck".

This dealership went through every single part, module, and wiring harness to try to figure out if there was maybe something different in the truck with the tow mirrors. Hell they were even trying to see if maybe the cameras were mounted differently. About a week ago I called the two other dealerships pretty much summing up that if it could be fixed they would have figured it out by now. My dealership that does modifications has shared with me they use forscan. They have driven my truck in circles somewhere in the neighborhood of almost an hour running the calibration software and my truck will not change. They did it again when they made the warranty repair on my 4x4 actuators. This is why I have no reason to believe any of these people are full of shit. They're doing this on their own dime now. Once I found out one of my local dealerships were putting these mirrors on not knowing I knew they were just as desperate as I was.

The only added issue is my truck currently has a 2 inch level and will be going to a 2.5. They've already told me that mine will never be perfect but sure as hell can be better than it is now. Stating that normally once they see a 2.5 inch or higher lift the stitching is usually off a little bit.

Jesse on this forum has been extremely helpful. After he used forscan to make some corrections I made a little progress running the calibration software. Unfortunately improved but it's still horrible.

I convinced my dealership to work on removing the split view. Honestly I don't want it I would rather have the full screen when backing up. It sounds like earlier models you could do this. They said they would write up an estimate and I would just have to sign it... But then again I don't even know if they can do it. The manager said he would refund my money if they couldn't do it, but he thinks they can.

I'm not sure really any of this is going to be helpful, but at least you should know you're not alone. The dealership shared with me weeks ago that they have trucks in for a warranty repair for the exact same issue with no modifications. Standard OEM mirrors.

Lastly, in the middle of this mess we reinstalled my standard OEM mirrors. They were good for approximately 2 months and then the stitching issue came back. This is when I decided to reinstall my tow mirrors.

I would definitely call a bunch of different dealerships and get their opinion. Also, I have my name in at some local dealership body shops looking for 24' tow mirrors. Back when I thought that would possibly help. I've received a few calls, but recently changed my mind and now want to add power fold to my XLT.

Your situation is definitely a lot more complex. I do have sympathy. It's extremely aggravating getting a new truck and then going through this kind of nonsense.

I'm about to ask Jesse if I can drive out to him to fix my problem ?

Best of of luck.

Well I have a dilemma here. I have a 2024 platinum and got the tow mirrors supposedly for a 2024 with all options including power fold and telescope. I will have to swap the camera from my stock small mirrors to the tow mirrors, but when I hook the new switch up, I don’t have the plug for the telescope switch. Strange because I have a the fold, but it seems I don’t have the telescope. I even took the panel off and didn’t see a connector or extra wiring hanging around. Anybody know of the part number that would include the telescope plug by chance?

I know for a fact the older models had the wire plugged into the plastic under the switch waiting to be used. Shouldn't have to search for it. I guess thats part of Ford's money saving cut backs. It's comical because all my lariats I added tow mirrors. It was all plug and play and Forscan programming. Dealership should be able to help locate that harness. Pull a vin off a platinum with tow mirrors and a good parts guy can take it from there. If not your dealership the guys at Fairway Ford in Ohio are fantastic. Good luck!

lol it is crazy the lengths that Ford is going through to save a dollar when spending 90k on a truck. Switched the camera and activated the parking lights on the tow mirrors. Everything works like it should even the camera being swapped from my stock mirrors to the tow mirrors worked like a charm. Should not have to get them recalibrated. Thank you OP and everyone for the recommendation. I was ready to return the tow mirrors.

Hey adyara77, did your XLT come with a spare tire lock? I just noticed yesterday I do not have one.

Yes definitely do not attempt to recalibrate. If the stitching looks good to you leave well enough alone in my opinion. I made the mistake of having the dealership attempt to calibrate and it hasn't been the same since. It's worse.

If you wouldn't mind I would love to see what your stitching looks like. The overhead 360 view with parking lines.

And you have 2024 tow mirrors? So not 21 to 23? I would appreciate the info thanks.
