2024 F150 Trailer Brake Controller Issue

Hello, I bought my 24 F-150 in March, it did not have the TBC controller so I worked it into the deal and they installed it along with the new module. I went to tow my trailer yesterday and the brake option does not appear on the screen when trailer is connected not does the gain etc. I ordered an obd and forscan and am going to see if it is activated today. Anyone have any tips or have experience with the same issue? Thank you.

If you squeeze the controller to manually activate the brakes, what happens? Without a trailer, it should flash a "trailer disconnected" message. With a trailer connected, it should show the gain and how much power is being applied to the brakes (and you should definitely feel the trailer tug on the truck and/or lock up wheels depending on where the gain is set).

There are certain towing screens where you can see it all the time, but on most screens it's just working in the background even with a trailer connected.

Did you change all the required parameters via the As Built config? Parameters need to be changed in multiple modules. I know that on the previous gen if you don't get all the settings changed, it would enable it on the instrument cluster without allowing it to actually do anything.

I have a 2020 Expy with a TBC. The brakes didn't work. I got Forscan and had to activate it. Now the the Expy sees the trailer but keeps connecting and disconnecting. I have been searching for any type of fix but no luck. I went to the dealer to ask for their help and they said they had no idea what could be wrong and also said they have no way to test the TBC system for any faults. I am so angry that even dealers have no clue how to fix it. There's more to this story, but the ending is the same.

Sorry, I don't have any other advice. I have a 16' Big Tex car hauler with brakes on both axles and it works fine with the built-in brake controller. Maybe someone else has experienced this.

Does "Select trailer" recognize your trailer?

It did, but did not have gain or anything. I found the coding on here from another user, but then when I pulled the brake lever it says trailer disconnected. I then hooked it up to my other truck and it isn’t recognizing the trailer at all so now i’m cleaning my ground wire and changing the 7 pin plug on my trailer hopefully that fixes it.

After I installed the new controller and switch I had the dealership flash the truck...still didn't work so I took it back in...turns out there is a 30 amp fuse that was not installed ?

I got mine to work, the trailer actually had a smashed wire causing a short so it works flawlessly now!
