Trailer brake update = no volume

I’ve been pretty happy about the fact that I finally started getting OTA updates on a regular basis without any issues, until….

I got the message on ford pass that this would install last night. So when I woke up this morning I was happy to see that it was a success. Not so fast!
Perhaps the trailer brake issue is finally resolved (ironically not towing anything at present). But low and behold, I have no volume. Not on the voice commands, stereo or anything else audible that outputs through the BO speakers.
I had this happen once and had the bring it in. That time is was allegedly soMething that was not seated properly. This time it has to be the update caused some sort of glitch. The volume was fine as I was listening to Stern in the driveway last night before coming in for the night.
has anyone else had this?
does anybody know if there is a master sound reset? If I remember correctly there is a sequence of buttons/knobs that will reset it.

Forgot to add that I have a 21 Lariat PB 502A with 15k and just about a year old. After a flurry of “growing pain” issues with the new model, it has recently been a pleasure to own.

If I remember correctly, To manual reset the APIM/SYNC press the power and tune buttons down on the radio for 10 seconds with the ignition on engine off.

As per the service manual.

Manual APIM Reset
Simultaneously press and hold the POWER button (in the middle of the volume button) and the RIGHT SEEK button on the audio controls panel to reboot the APIM. As the APIM reboot begins, the display unit turns black before the startup sequence begins.

Thanks for the tip. I tried that a little while ago. In fact I tried that and the key reset and neither worked. I also just noticed that I can’t switch from surround to stereo or adjust speed compensated volume. Nothing happens when I press the buttons.

Try pulling fuse 28 for a few seconds located in the body fuse panel behind the passenger front kick panel. Fuse 28 is for the amplifier. You also might want to make sure all the fuses are pushed in.

DavidB pucker up because I could kiss you right now! That worked like a charm. I don’t know where you’re located, but if it’s anywhere in the northeast, I will buy you a big ass beer!
I spent an hour on the phone with ford tech this morning and got nowhere. She was very nice and tried to be as helpful as she could be but I could tell she was going through a canned response process with a series of resets. Once those failed she was out of her comfort zone.
