What I can’t understand it the technology has been around for over 20 years for AGM battery’s. My 2008 charger had one in the truck it went south after 9 years. That’s when I found out it was in the trunk. I’ve had to replace mine, charge mine, take it to the dealer over night to have it tested only to tell me mine battery is fine and have to jump start the truck 2 days later. It’s a shame when you have to carry a jumper box around for safety because your 2 year old truck with 29000 miles won’t keep a charge and the dealer says nothing to see here. What a joke!

If you're replacing it anyway, just get an H8. Nobody that I've seen (including me) has had any issues after putting in an H8. And I'm running a snowplow in winter, never use a maintainer, and have a large stereo system, and several accessories tapped into the circuit. ZERO issues. Reset the BMS, changed the SOC to 95%. Just het an H8 and be done with it. Why are people continuing to try to find creative ways around it, or praying "this time it'll go better" I just don't get it.

Even a good battery brand has flawed units. You do know Ford doesn't make the batteries, right? Mine lasted right at 3 years which is just about what I get from any parts store regular or AGM battery, (Auto Zone, O'Reilly's, NAPA, etc. I purchased an H7 Interstate from Costco 1 1/2 years ago and we'll see if it goes another 1 1/2 years but I just plan on being prepared to change it again. On another note, my aux 12v is still trucking (pun intended) along just fine. I use Odyssey's in my motorcycles which usually last at least 8 years. If I can get that out of my car/truck batteries, it would pay for itself. Anything less, and it's a draw given the cost of those things.
I’ve owned five Ford vehicles one was an expedition. The other four are the other three or FX4 and the one I got now is a Tremor! have never had a battery issue. It goes to sleep every once in a while, but not a problem.

Caution if you have a PowerBoost, the H8 will only fit with some modifications to the tray and surrounding equipment. The hybrid has a number of additional parts cluttering the area. I have not attempted but have seen some that have done it on this forum.

Thats traditional wisdom. Boaters use trolling motor batteries and starting batteries for just this reason

Replacing mine on a 18 month "old" 2024 5.0. Went with Walmart since they are everywhere and it came with a 4 yr warranty (EverStart Platinum H7). It's charging now and I'll put it in when it's charged, then attempt the BMS reset 🤞

I like that you are charging it. This is the best condition to start a battery fully charged.

I wanna know what you guys are doing that kills battery...

I have a 2021 with 100,000 miles on the factory battery. I don't do any of the little "tips and tricks" that are supposed to help. And my truck sits for extended periods of time when I'm away for work.

This is all modern cars.

The newer 7 series calls to replace the 12v battery every oil change.

Rivians chew through 12v batteries.

It is partially the frequency and duration of my driving, I drive 2, maybe 3 times a week for 10-20 minutes, but most of it is the BMS. I had the BMS unplugged on my 2019 Ranger 90% of the time --battery lasted 5 yrs with no issues. If this battery goes bad, I'll unplug it on this one too.

I sold my 2019 Ranger to my buddy who swapped the factory motor after it (assumedly) spun a bearing. He's still on the factory battery afaik and neither of us unplugged the BMS

Only time will tell but new Wally World H8 has made a world of difference in my truck. I have had several OTA updates and no more "system shutdown please charge or drive your truck "warnings.

and even though I had reported battery draining etc to my dealer months ago “
Yeah.... not feeling it... You had a problem manifest months ago and NOW you're on a rant about Ford BS because the battery died months later?

It's like putting gas into it.... you need to actually be proactive every now and again otherwise it just stops...

And if you 'were' proactive do tell.......

Got my 2023 used at the end of August with ~12000 miles on it and have put about 3k miles on it since. I have been having some weird glitches pop up, zone lighting not working, low battery warning from fordpass app, parking break error service now message.

Everything I have been reading leads me to believe I should just change the battery. Getting to the dealership is a PITA and for them to either say nothing is wrong with the battery or give me the same unreliable replacement. I'm going to go get a walmart battery tomorrow.
