Whew, I bet! To the OP, I don't mean to sound like I don't believe you're having cam phaser issues. What's confusing me is the fact that you know somebody that's saying these fail all the time, when I've literally never even heard of them failing on a 2.7 on this forum full of owners of those trucks until now.

Agree with above comments. There are no cam phaser failures anywhere on any gen14 2.7 forums. Sounds like first, hopefully just unlucky for you. As the person above stated, I don't want to sound like no one believes you but I'd like to see what a Ford dealer would advise since this should be covered under powertrain warranty.

Scroll down to the similar threads below and you will see at least 2 so this isn’t unheard of, just maybe less common.

Why is everyone acting like we havent heard of phaser failures in the 21+ 2.7s? Its not super common, but definitely well documented on Broncos and f150s. Ive heard of maybe a handful.

I am looking at purchasing a 2023 F150 with a 2.7L, it has 26k miles on it and I noticed on the Carfax the following "Camshaft(s) replaced/repaired" and "Engine timing/front cover gasket replaced" as well as replacing oil and filter and serpentine belt are all listed as performed by the Ford dealership when it arrived at their location. So obviously had an issue when they bought it and now I am wondering if this was a Cam Phaser issue they fixed. Even though Cam Phasers are rarer on the 2.7L I am still concerned and wondering if this fix will be a good thing since they were taken care of under warranty or if this is too big of a red flag. I have asked the dealer to get the paperwork explaining the repair and parts from their service department so hopefully I will learn more tomorrow, Monday. Thanks for any thoughts.

Update, truck has been at dealer for a couple weeks, got a phone call from them, very impressed with this dealer and their great dpt.

Ford has not made a revised part number for the phasers, so yes my new ones will fail again. The same part number is going back in, He said he believes ford is working on a solution just like the 3.5.

I am covered until 60k or 5 years if the phasers fail again. (I'm sure I'l be back, and hopefully get the revised phasers.)

They are also replacing my APIM, it quit showing location after an update, and ford nav quit working.

I asked what is the best warranty he seen that allows for fast process and less hoops and loops, and he said, Ford Premium, he said the other 3rd party ones will look for things to deny your claim, k&n air filter or maybe the wrong aspect ratio of your tires, really knowledgeable person I talked to.

So I might go purchase the Ford Premium care to at least cover me until 100k, cause the APIM failing after my 36k would have been expensive.
