Cam phaser rattle possible?

So my dad has a 21 f150 xlt with the 2.7. Yesterday morning he cranked it up and heard a rattle. Not totally the end of the world as his truck only has 26000 miles so still under warranty. But what i dont u derstand is that it makes the rattle every time he cranks it. It was my understanding from others with the rattle that it should only rattle on a cold start first start of the day and also my understanding that the cam phrasers was updated to kinda eliminate the problem on the newer trucks but i know things can and will happen. Its just the fact that it rattles every start up thats got me buffaloed. Anyone heard of this. Its going to the dealer monday so i guess we will see.

Yeah the 2.7 had cam phaser issues now. It didn't in previous gens, but does now in the 21 and 22s at least as well as the broncos. I think I saw an updated part number from someone on this forum more familiar with the issue. My own 2.7 has some light rattling on occasional start up with only 2500 miles on it. I have to wait for it to get more consistent and severe before getting it addressed. As I understand, I don't think it's doing damage, but someone may correct me. FWIW, it isn't near as bad on mine yet as my family's 2018 expedition with the 3.5 until they were replaced.

Also very interested in the wet oil pump belt with the 21+ engines.

Does it sound like this? Myself and a few others on here have had our phasers replaced on our our 2021+ trucks. Thankfully it seems that phaser issues are rare on the Gen 2 2.7s, but there is a TSB and updated phasers for some 2021+ trucks that I shared in that thread.

Yes sir that be the sound. Im not sure how i missed that thread you started cause i did some searchin for my dad when he first heard it. Is the new engine still good. Any signs of cam phasers goin out again.

The OP in that thread received a whole new engine, mine just got all four of the phasers replaced. Been about 4,000 miles since my phasers were replaced and so far so good. Now my transfer case is leaking pretty bad, so it's gotta go in for that, but so far no issues with the motor. I dropped the oil 3000 after the phasers and am going to send it off to be analyzed to make sure everything is ok with the engine.
