I just picked up a new to me 2023 F-150 Tremor 402a. Truck had 20,000 kms on the odometer.
I had a 9 hour drive home to get aquatinted with my new truck.
Now. I hate to say this. But the truck felt underwhelming passing on the highway. I know some of the issues is this 10 speed because the thing really doesn’t want to kick down (even in sport mode) But passing felt lethargic. My previous truck was a 2016 Ram 1500 hemi. And this feels slower..
I did own a 2013 3.5EB and it too felt quicker.
I did my best to run a stop watch for some 0-60 pulls. Best I could get was 6.5 seconds. Sport mode, boost launch, flat ground, premium fuel, cool ambient temperature.
no codes. Truck is damn near new.
what gives? Am I missing something?

Give it some time to break in and for the transmission and engine control unit to learn and adjust its adaptive tables.

Hmmm. Bigger than stock tires on that Tremor?

The shifting logic wants to lug the engine and use the turbos to make up for it but on mine, it really doesn't take much additional input to the throttle, to get the trans to shift appropriately and even during the rare times I might be in eco mode, if I stick my foot in it, it goes.

You should be able to hit at 5.7s 0-60MPH or very close to that pretty easily. I would start by giving the truck a good inspection and checking things that would often go unchecked on a truck with such low mileage. Make sure the brakes aren't dragging and make sure the air filter is clean and nothing built a nest in the airbox.

Make sure it doesn’t have an air leak or that the cats are not clogged.

I did put a new air filter in for kicks. No change. I’m running 94 octane. Which did allow the truck to build more boost. But my 6.5 second run was on 94 octane and nearly full boost on gauge. Stock tires. Yea not sure. At this point a 5.0 would pull away from me I think.

I’m thinking the previous owner ran shitty fuel maybe? When I first got the truck. Turbo boost was limited to half on the boost gauge. Something was causing the truck to pull timing. I have only had it a few days so hopefully this new air filter, And top shelf 94 octane start loosening her up.
I have seen damn near full boost on the gauge now but this is where I got my 6.5 sec 0-100km/hr runs.
before with only half boost I was only able to get 7.3sec 0-100kmh.
thanks for your input.

Another thing I’m wondering about is my less than perfect battery. Perhaps it is having a negative effect on performance? I have gotten the message on my ford app that services are not available due to low voltage.
a new AGM H8 will be going in her asap.

Take it in for Warranty, the dealer has a whole lot full of "like vehicles" to test drive in comparison.

I have the same truck with 17k miles and power at any time is not a problem, according to my wife it is the opposite, she is never thrilled when I get after it. Hauls ass when I so desire. Funny I had Ram hemi get a little frisky on the turnpike late one night a month ago, my Tremor was at 104 mph quick and they decided not to play anymore. I was shocked how quick I got to 104 from 65. It probably was a dumb thing but now I know, lol.

This is what I was hoping for. Like I said I had a 2013 3.5 EB so my expectations weren’t unrealistic. I hope I can get my truck to where it’s supposed to be. I’d like to be able to run 91 instead of 94 but I’m trying everything I can make it happy. I really don’t want to throw away my warranty to tune it.

Yea it’s funny you mention that. Because I like to use that line on my grand Cherokee forum 🤣
I will definitely be testing it against another truck if I can’t make it happy.
Funny thing is. My Gen 1 3.5 was fast even on 87 Octane. When I picked this truck up, the dealership definitely filled it with 87 and boost would not go past half on the gauge.,so it was definitely dialling back timing and boost.
On 87 all I could muster was a measly 7.3 seconds 0-60.
On a blend of 91 and 94 I managed a 6.5 second run and nearly full boost on the gauge.
Not sure how on earth I’m gonna shave another full second off.
For what it’s worth I’m in sport mode. I doubt 2WD is quicker but who knows

If you care that much about speed buy an actual sports car, imo. Make sure the F150 is running healthy but it's a 5,000 lb truck... and it won't be running healthy for very long if you keep launching it and flooring it everywhere. Mechanical empathy is a good thing if you wish to own a car a long time and wish for it to be reliable over time.

Thanks for your annoy reply..
I want my truck to perform as it should. No need to get pompous. I have owned a fist gen 3.5 EB and know my truck isn’t running as it should.
If you don’t have anything constructive to add run along.
The 0-60 runs are just to give a tangible perspective to my problem. Not how I drive regularly.
The way it’s acting I’m missing serious power.
I think I’m right to be concerned with the lack of power I’m experiencing. My truck has barely any miles on it. Nothing should be worn out or dirty at 13,000 miles.
You’d be asking questions too if you were getting less power than a 2.7 out of your 3.5.
