Hello,

I had my 22 F-150 delivered at the beginning of July and as soon as I took on the highway I noticed my passenger seat shaking. I also felt a slight vibration in my steering wheel. I called the dealership to tell them about the issue and they told me to bring my truck in.

They conducted a road force balance on all four tires and found that I had one bad tire. They replaced it since it was under warranty. They told me the issue was fixed. While they were getting the work done, they gave me a 21 XLT to drive. That thing drove like a dream. I went to pick the truck up after they told me it was ready and has been tested. As soon as I hit the highway, same issue. I called the dealership again and they told me that they didn’t know what else to do, so my salesman told me to take it to another Ford dealer, so I did. Now I’m waiting for them to do the same set of tests in the hopes of finding what the other guys missed. This is my first Ford, I’ve owned Hondas for most my life, and it’s validating a lot of the skepticism that I’ve heard about Ford vehicles. It’s unacceptable that a brand new 67k truck has to spend more time at a dealership and not on my driveway.

That sucks... Mine has the tailgate pop when closing. Of course I noticed it AFTER signing the paperwork but before leaving the lot. There is an active recall on the tailgate so hopefully that'll be the fix. MY 2020 Ranger went in no less than 7 times for leaks that they couldn't ever completely solve. So I feel ya.

Vibrations at speed are usually the result of out of balance or out of round tire(s), driveshaft 2nd phase vibrations, or defective or worn suspension parts. You can try swapping out one wheel at a time with the spare and test to see if it goes away. If not then the next things to check are the driveshaft and front suspension. It's also possible that the driveshaft threw a weight or was not properly balanced. Many local driveshaft shops can check it on the truck for minimal cost.

Last thing is if it's a 4wd model there could be an issue with the front cv joints. I have had similar issues like this when the driver's side inner cv joint was faulty.

I have a slight one in the steering wheel but I have bigger tires and a level. Thinking it’s that.

Welcome to the forum.

A noticeable vibration is unacceptable on any new vehicle whether it costs $30k or $100k. Hopefully the second dealer will sort it out.

I've noticed a bit of vibration at speed as well. Same as you, a bit through the body of the truck but I do feel it in the steering wheel primarily.

I was going to raise it to the dealership when I get my next service, but your experience has me doubting whether it's even worth it.

#1 cause of hi speed vibration is tire balance...or issue with. Need all 4 balanced.

Update:
The second dealership managed to fix the issue by doing a road force balance using a newer machine. The shaking went away after they did that.

Check your state's lemon laws and start documenting every communication you have with the dealer and with Ford. Research any similar problems with the 2021 models as you may find more information than for a 2022 truck.

With my Toyota and Chevy trucks I found that 75% of the dealers' shops were worthless and it took a trial an error process to find the dealer with a good mechanic. Most mechanics can only lookup trouble codes and are unable to do diagnostics. I have had the best success with small independent garages that need to be better to stay in business.
