So i went out to my truck on Sunday morning on the second start up of the day the screen didn't come on. Black. Nothing. I do have the backup camera when I put in reverse and the phone does ring and I can answer from the steering wheel. I have no radio, no screen to adjust anything on temps/radio/navigation. I have an appt with my dealer but was curious on anything else. Truck has approx 1600 miles on it. Purchased on Jan 15, 2022. Any help would be great!!

Mine did that one time due to an OTA update. After the update finished it went back to normal

Yep..this has happened to many of us on here and more than likely to others as well. Mine simply fads out but everything appears to work. Will get this check out when I go in for my first oil change. Funny thing about mine is if i don't plug my phone in to charge the screen doesn't fad out and go to black. Keep us updated. Thanks for your post.

My screen went black about a week after my shifter broke off. Not sure if the issues are related though.

Hi there. Can you send us a DM with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into this on my end.

I have done that once but I do not believe it did anything either. I have no radio, no navigation, nothing...I cannot change anything from that screen. Power button does not do anything for it either.

Also what is funny about this is that, since the screen is not working, I do not show the designated speed limit on the panel in front of me. I figured that had to do with the navigation being out.

Update
My truck is at Ford for the insulation recall and this screen issue. The Dealership called me today and told me that there is a solution to this issue and it will require the tech spending about 2-1/2 hours with the truck updating/programming modules. They will need a constant voltage to the truck with a type of charger that they did not have. They have requested the charger and will schedule an appointment to drop off the truck for the programming. I’ll follow up after that and let y’all know if it worked out.

I experienced a blackout this morning when I started the truck up to warm it up, de-ice the morning frost. I wonder if I fried a fuse when I flipped on the max defrost, and will try to check at lunch today. The backup camera worked fine, the radio was on, but the power button did nothing, and the volume knob worked.

@Capt Obvious did the updated program modules fix it? Did anyone else here learn the cause?

I have a weekend trip planned and need the truck, so hoping this was just an isolated issue.

Short answer is yes. When one of the updates finally went through it was fixed and I haven’t had a problem since. When the problem started FordPass had shown a failed update. It took several months and then one day the update went through and it was fixed. At the time that this started there were a lot of failed updates to others trucks as well but not all experienced this problem. The screen always came back on when I pushed the dimmer switch up or down.

I fix software bugs!
Maybe this isn't the same issue, but my 2018, 2020, and now my 2022 have experienced this symptom. All I do is a soft reboot on the head unit. There seems to be some discrepancies over what a soft, hard and master reset are, but I hold the volume button and press the right seek button at the same time for 10 seconds.

Here is a Ford writeup:

Thank you both. I don't think it was an update. FordPass shows 9/14 as the last one. After turning the truck off for an hour, when I went back it worked fine. But I'll remember that reboot w/ the volume+right seek button. Is that on the dash below the screen or on the steering wheel? Or either?
