Update, the day after my last message in this thread, 3.5.3.2 showed up and installed while sitting in my parking lot at work. The truck was not connected to wifi that I know of, so not entirely sure what happened. It could have been connected at my home, downloaded there and installed later after I got to work. But its there.

Kinda the second time this happened. When I complained in a fordpass chat about not getting 3.5.2 and getting broomed to call that team (which i did not), 3.5.2 showed up the next day (at home).

Your dealer telling you they need to order cables sounds like a full truckload of BS to me.
Actually, his dealership was probably referring to the USB cables and adapters that Ford specified in the original TSB that was released to address the APIMs that are/were stuck in purgatory.

The instructions in the TSB provide an alternative method to updating the module, rather than the traditional OBD-Forscan procedure. That method did in fact require a couple of cables that most dealerships wouldn't ordinarily have in their snap-on roll around toolboxes. :)

(Although lots of folks with computers at work/home might have the necessary cables)

And you'll likely get 3.5.4 in short order. Mine came just a few days after 3.5.3.2 successfully installed. From what I've read, there haven't been any updates that came through wifi; all have come via the onboard AT&T connection. I also recall that the download waits until after you've driven for a minimum of 30 minutes (presumably to ensure that the battery is reasonably charged up), and in the 3 upates that I've received, that's proven true.

Interesting. I thought I had read up on all the TSB's. Do you remember which one is was so I can look it up read more into it?

I have a job 1 XLT 302A. I got 3.5.2 back in October. My dealer offered to download 3.5.3 for me because he saw it had been trying to download since Jan with no success. Just got back from picking up my truck. They are saying my truck won’t take 3.5.3 (and Alexa) since I don’t have ENHANCED voice recognition. He showed me a customer release note flare-prd-software-fnv2, update 734836-912996 that state “keep in mind your truck must have enhanced voice recognition and an activated modem”

Dont all Sync 4 systems have enhanced voice recognitio? They are trying to tell me their is a difference between voice recognition and ENHANCED voice recognition.

rugedraw can you check my VIN for me to see if they tried to do something? Thanks

The time thing is interesting. It takes me about 15 min to get to work. Though I think i might have started the truck remotely before leaving, though I can't remember. I may have also got gas on the way in that day, but I really don't think it took me 30 min.

On monday I did drive around for more than 30 min though, that I know for sure. And in an area I don't normally drive in. Maybe thats when the download was happening.

I don't know what they showed you nor do I know if there is a difference between regular or enhanced voice recognition. What I do know without a shadow of a doubt is that your truck can take that update. I also know without a doubt that they never connected your truck to FDRS to check for available updates. All they did was look it up in PTS (which is what I have), but at no point in time since your truck was manufactured has anyone connected it to FDRS.

sigh, what is it with these people? How difficult is it to hook it up to FDRS and take a look. They told me they would, I take the truck and leave it with them for a day and then nothing. If they didn’t want to do it just tell me up front.

thanks for checking. I’m on your mongoose borrow list (thanks for that!). When I get the cable I will do the updates myself.

FWIW on an F150 Facebook group someone said they were working with Ford support, and told that Ford had an issue with updates on Job 1 trucks that is almost finished and would be released Feb 28? I can't find the post now but I'll keep looking for it.

However, that's the only "reasonable" explanation I can find is that Ford had something to fix with relation to Job 1 truck updates before they could push them out. Most of what I'm hearing now is that none of our trucks are getting anything pushed to it, so hopefully there's some truth to this, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'll probably wait another week or so, but if I don't hear of any changes I'll make a dealer appointment and try to grill them into updating me under the 21G01 program. I'll keep y'all updated....

Considering Ford sent a note out to all dealers to not perform 21G01 until further notice due to issues with the IPC update involved in the process, I don't think you're going to get much success getting them to do that right now.

Ok I just got off the phone with support, and they said to do a 10 key cycle modem reset, basically you have truck running , then turn off, open door, lock the door, shut the door and start . That should be 1 key cycle, do that 5-10 times and the guy I talked to said it basically resets the modem. Said it could take 2-3 days to see if it works. Has anyone done this? Don’t quote me on the exact steps I may have missed one . Said horn should honk if key cycle done correctly.

Did they mention the part where you have to stand on one leg while rubbing your belly with one hand and patting your head with the other?

In all seriousness: Nothing can be done to trigger an OTA. This has been told to me by people much more knowledgeable than me about these things.
