I'm all for reading the manual. But it's 750 pages and I just couldn't wait that long to touch EVERY button and turn EVERY dial to discover what would happen.

However, I knew the multiple modes HAD to be somewhere because my last 3 F150's had multiple modes.

Well I just went out and tried it and was stunned.

I had no idea all those modes were in there. I guess I've been in Normal mode the whole time though.

My first F-150 was an '11 XLT that had 2wd and 4 Hi and Low and that was it selectable via the knob. My second was a '15 Lariat that was a 4X4 that you selected 2wd, 4 Hi/Lo and now A for auto, all selected by turning the knob. The next two trucks I had were Raptors a '18 and a '20, and that was my first exposure to "modes". Same knob for selecting 2wd, 4wd etc. but the modes were selected by a button on the steering wheel, as well as the mode for the steering effort.

So when I traded my '20 Raptor in and ordered the '21 Powerboost and got in it I took one look at the knob selector and assumed it was the same as all the previous trucks I had. This truck was from the day it was ordered meant to be a 'placeholder' for the Lightning I really wanted, and I knew I was only going to have it for a year when I got it. I've never even used the built in generator (although I really haven't had a need either). I've taken it on a couple of short trips but that's it. So I never realized that you selected the driveline mode by pressing the quadrant you wanted and then twisted the knob to select the "mode".

Thanks to all for the education. I can't say I'm impressed by the green instrument panel coloring when ECO is selected. That is pretty fugly.

So I'll leave it in ECO for the rest of the time I've got it and see if the mileage improves a bit.

Have a great Memorial Day, (unless you had other plans...)

ECO mode?
Now that you've discovered the mode selector you are supposed to go enjoy the truck in the REAL POWERboost/10-speed mode. :)

Ford calls it "Sport". Whatever. Lol

Well I was actually looking for that 24mpg (Highway and City) that we were all supposed to get according to the Monroney sticker. I haven't been anywhere close to that ever.

And if I want to experience the thrill of a carrier launch I do that in my Mach-E. Punching it in that car always brings a smile to my face. I would expect that the Lightning will be just as entertaining.

Oh, that. :)

If you can't get it in lug mode (Normal)
You won't get it in more-lug mode either.

Just saying.

Honestly, I don't have an explanation for why some of us get it without barely trying, and others can't while driving meticulously in the endeavor. I'm on my second Powerboost. Both fully dolled up examples. Both can be kept above 20 and can break into the 23-24mpg range if I will just use some cruise control to make up for my tomfoolery before I get where I'm going.
But I live in flat coastal tropical environment. I get good quality 93 octane. (currently cost me an arm and a leg, but Bluecruise requires fewer limbs)

I think this is a big part of it people don't often talk about. In my 2018 3.5EB I could jump from 18.2 to 21.1 by going from 87 to 93. It made the numbers look good, but 93 was still more expensive than buying 87 more often. I've not taken the time to calculate if under the current prices 93 at better mpg would be cheaper than 87 at worse mpg. Maybe I'll do that tonight.

I doubt that I could argue for the economic advantage of 93 based on ROM. (return on mileage)

But I'm an Ecoboost geek and I enjoy the effort (and challenge) to make the ICE portion of my Powerboost happy. Basically it's like a videogame while flying..... I meant driving. I'm monitoring various Pids and my target is to have the best scores possible for OAR tables, timing advance/anti-knock/ECTemps... etc.

It's an amazing platform.

i am at 16.7 now mostly city, with short 65 mph runs of less than 20 miles
but i am still under 1k on the clicker.
i imagine a long highway run of 60 plus miles one way it may trim the fuel and start coming up
i did find 87 octane gave me 16 and 89 is 16.7 . i ran 93 and 92 in the 2016 exp it made a difference
but in no way paid for the gain . but engine ran smoother and i drove that puppy at 78 or higher for some long long runs

I forgot to mention pushing the center of the drive selector is how you engage/ disengage the electronic locker

I use 93 invigorate and get 17. I don't think it's fuel quality determining the mpg besides a 10-15% difference. It's got to be something else.

To get back to Forscan Does anyone know of a cross-reference for the old and new Forscan? Also to which modules specifically control what function?

i am not really going to watch it like a hawk until i get 1k miles on it
short trips are killing me, its almost 4 miles from my door (15-20 mph with four stop signs) to the main road that is 65 for 6 miles then another 12 at 60 to 70 my doc. so its really not getting worked out.

I am just looking to do a few things with Forscan such as enabling power fold on my newly added tow mirrors, and also enabling cameras at speed. I noticed that I can enable front cameras for off-roading modes also but it looks like it requires code changes to the same line ….. can I enable both rear cameras at speed and front cameras in off-road modes?
Similar question for the mirrors ….. I’m enabling power fold but also want to enable Lincoln mode on them, is that possible?

Has anyone had this pop up when first getting into Forscan? Can I fix this myself or does this require a trip to the dealership?

Can confirm that Digital Engine/Coolant temp & Transmission Temp (720-07-01) works; Keyfob Panic Button (726-62-01) works; and Keyfob Panic Alarm (726-01-02) works.

As you suspected I could not get Digital Oil Pressure (720-07-01) to enable, nor could I get Keyfob Car Finder (726-28-01) to disable this time either. I was also unable to get the startup tone (doo-do-doo) (720-01-02) to deactivate. I didn't get the drive mode message or anything. The only effect it seemed to have was changing the first sound to the old school (think 2014 Escape) tone, then it switched back to the current tone. No big loss on that one, just figured I'd add to your growing list of results.
Have you figured out how to disable the startup tone (doo-do-doo) (720-01-02) ? This drive me nuts ! Haha
