Thanks for the replies and suggestions everyone! I think I am going to add the 36 gallon tank for sure

I do have a question though, is the Tow Package a necessity?

I have never had to tow before but wife and I want to tow buy and tow 2 jet skiis. Nothing more than that

Is that package worth it still?
For resale I would think it is....

No hard data. Other than just knowing truck owners, that despite whether people tow a lot or not, it's a feature many like to have on a truck. Kind of like 4x4.

People like a truck for capability, whether they use the things that make it capable.

I had configured the XLT before deciding on a Lariat, and one of the important options for me was the adjustable foot pedals because my wife is 5' 1" :)

I don’t know if you need the tow package for the 360 cameras but that and possibly the back-up assist will probably be nice for moving small trailers like jet skies that could easily hide behind the tailgate and sides of the truck

Hello all

I’m building my first ever F150 and have been curious as to what veteran truck and F150 owners would recommend as must haves when building from factory

Currently have a wrangler and I just need something bigger and not a garbage can on the road

Right now I’m going with:

XLT with high package sport appearance
V8
Towing/360 camera
I want a cover (but I can’t decide which one)

I am going to get dealer installed leather and heated/cooled seats because XLT doesn’t have that option

What else would you say you must have?

I didn't know dealer can install heated/cooled seats.
What seats are these?! If Ford seats, I would probably upgrade to Lariat, have the factory install everything right from the get go and not let dealer mess with anything (remember - wiring is required for that).
If not Ford seats, you can probably do this outside Ford/dealer for less money.

It really depands on what you want/need the truck for.
To me, extended tank, work space, under back seat lockable storage and V8 were important. I also opted for the Tow Tech Package simply because it included the 360 cameras.
I didn't really "need" FX4; I wanted it, especially for the hill descent and skid plates, but I could definitely live without it.

as gooit sounds the tailgate step.
Second this! I initially passed on it but wife talked me into it and glad she did. Makes getting in and out of the bed a breeze.

Something I got which probably could have skipped for my normal use was the pro power on board (non powerboost). It’s a cool capability and I am happy to have it for that you never know factor, just not sure how much actual use I will give it.

I saw you mentioned 4x4 and that’s a solid pick depending on area. I’m in a desert and not planning to leave the roads so skipped it myself. If skipping though, at least add the locking diff. Cost is minimal and it gives you a bit more traction (true 4x2) if you do end up in a jam.

Supercrew, 36 gallon fuel tank, tailgate step. There was a Lariat on the sales lot. One of a total of 4 F150's. They are in short supply up here, so we just went for it. Every feature we could need...or want!
It's pricey, but no regrets here! Love the truck. That's her, but we dumped the tires for Goodrich K02's
Enjoy the "chore" of deciding what to order!

That is a new one about the locking diffs. Do you recommend the 3.31? Never had a vehicle with lockers before. How does it help with situations? Is it automatic or does it need to be activated?

It’s a button on the dash that you press to activate when needed.

If you have ever driven a truck on wet grass, you’ll know how big a lifesaver it can be. Trucks on grass tend to spin one wheel and won’t move forward. With a locker, you can stop the one wheel from spinning and get both wheels moving to actual propel you forward.

Nice! Great looking truck. I did the same with my Powerboost in May. I wasn't sure what stock would look like in the future so I got what I could. I didn't trust ordering and future parts inventory at factory. I just went with the first silver powerboost I could find, and it ended up being a Lariat. These things were leaving lots within 24 hours, at least in May.

It's like full-time 2WD - the one wheel that the truck is using is slipping. The other wheel isn't used. Activate it, and there's a good chance THAT other wheel has traction and will pull you out.

Have you tried pricing your truck as a 500a Lariat? Can’t imagine those heated/cooled are less than 2K at the dealer much less an outside shop. Upgrading to Lariat gets you more options including the leather heated/cooled seats for that same 2K. In addition, you get power folding mirrors, all digital dash, LED tails, and probably more that I am leaving out. I would check that out before ordering.

Good idea. Lariat has so many features. Check pricing on the features you want to add after-market. And, if they are already installed in the truck when it is assembled, you have no worries with post-installation done by shop A or B.
