18 Speakers/Head Rest??

I don't think you have the 18 speakers, show all the options on your window sticker. What you posted is not helpful. It should say B&O Unleashed.

Doing all this research with the massage seats, then hearing about the speakers in the seats, then my dumbass is putting my ear against the head rest, just to hear nothing.

First, @diambo4life his first pic DOES say "Unleashed", but I can't tell if I can see the B&O logo on the headrest, does your have these?

Couple things to address:
First things first, make sure you are in SURROUND MODE:
AUDIO>SOUND>SOUND MODE>SURROUND.

In order to go through the sound test press the forward button on both the steering wheel and radio interface at the same and hold for 5 seconds...

.... It will cycle through the speakers.
Secondly, the sound, even with Snakes suggested downloads are basically useless.
I have done the same thing with my ear to the headrest and it's pathetic. My earbuds, with no exaggeration, put out more volume.
Someone in the B&O lab thought quantity is better than quality.

Different channels will play different aspects of the sound that will be more or
Less apparent depending on the source. If you play a surround sound system In your living room some of the time Sound from the surround speakers may be barely perceptible until significant sound information actually gets sent to those speakers. In true surround You’re not going to hear the same sounds from the surround units that you will from the front. Just sound information you’d perceive with something happening in front of you that produces echoes, background noise and other extraneous info that comes from behind you if the sounds are happening to you in real life. If you don't understand that the same sounds won't be coming from every direction in this sort of setup it's going to sound like it's not working right. Then suddenly something happens behind the person in the movie and you hear it behind you.

If your source doesn’t have information for those speakers you won’t hear much from them and most people with these systems probably aren’t playing anything that fully exploits them. Also live performances will have more sound information in them than your typical 2 channel studio recording and can make a good quality oriented system really come alive.

Serious car audio guys will tell you zillion speaker systems are a gimmic. The customer is given an easily understandable high number of something so they feel they’re getting value. One set of good and well aimed front components, read door speakers and a sub with strong aftermarket amplification can put a lot of “million speaker” factory setups to shame.

If you use apple music, set your cell streaming quality to lossless. Its a gamechanger. However the headrest speakers wont be "featured" but there will be different parts of songs with cymbals, or guitars riffs lightly featured.

Some people "center" the fade option just behind the cup holders on the digital truck display under the balance and fade option. But this pulls too much bass from the forward stage to me. Not worth it.

Yes, make sure you adjust the sound "Balance and Fade" lateral "Fade" line to be BEHIND the headrests.

Your window sticker indicates you should have the headrest speakers, but your headrests do not, as @JJSnell mentioned above. My 18-speaker Unleashed system has embossed "B&O" branding on the headrests.

I second the Apple lossless versus all other sources. XM sounds ridiculous through the headrests (when you can hear them), Spotify occasionally makes me say, "whoa", and Apple lossless makes me hear parts of songs I've not heard before.

My fade is a bit behind the rear seats and works for me. It took me about 4k miles to get used to the Unleashed system, so if yours is an 18-speaker setup, be patient. Otherwise, if you're short your headrest speakers, I hope it's a quick fix for you at your dealership.

@Nukem1040 I *THINK* I can barely see your B&O logo on the headrest now that I am on my computer. Do you have that logo as I showed on my picture above?
As for the ability to hear anything. I only (and have stated this in many other posts), I only use my thumdrive to play FLAC files. I downloaded all the .WAV files that came with the sound demo for B&O and I listen to music where you can BARELY hear a nice mandolin, discreet symbol or whisper of an accordion... Fleetwood Mac, The Chain, has a beautiful tease of Lindsey Buckinghams guitar in the beginning... cant hardly hear it in the headrests... Mark Knopflers guitar from a Flac file pretty much cant be beat in DS's Sultans of Swing....
Try this song on a thumbdrive and put your fade\balance here... It is best balanced for single driver.

its there, but to notice it you gotta go to 11 ( spinal tap ref )on the volume. as already mentioned the idea is they add a subtle ambient sound. but I only hear mine at full blast and with my "good" ear towards the head rest.

the sound playback is directly dependent on AGE of occupant, previous job history. and of course quality of music provided the system to play.

i am an old helicopter fixer upper...basically my ears are deaf at weird hertz

i can turn up to 16 to 22 and feel damm good with the boom boom in the back and the insane guitar in my ears
i love dire straits mark can flat beat the guitar into his biotch
i also love country, rock, hard or soft, some 70s disco and lots of 60 and 70s rock toss in a bit of def leapard and AC DC or Joan Jett and even AQUA ?

for me the unleashed is perfect. it plays loud enough that i have to turn it down on some songs
i like the head rests input ..it seems to make some tones more CLEAR to ME.
