Man sorry to hear about that. I don’t know if helpful but I would definitely try a transmission logic reset. My Powerboost was pretty bad at the start. Couple resets seemed to help. It’s still often clunky on some shifts, but it’s liveable (even if I still think it’s unacceptable compared to any other vehicle)

Coolant leak… is it just a clamp possibly? I had an air box clamp not tight from the factory. My aunt had a Focus that had a loose coolant clamp. Inexcusable assembly quality but not end of the world.

Not excusing Ford or defects but hoping maybe it will help.

As far as Ram… I was THIS close to getting Ram instead. I could use the pro power on the ford and I liked the fuel economy and generally like Ford brand better so went with F150. If I were shopping today… I'm not sure I’d do it again. PPoB is nice but isn’t as amazing as I’d hoped I’d find it. So I’d probably skip Powerboost. I’d probably try the 2.7T instead and hopefully the transmission would operate properly.

Honestly though I’d probably get a ram. The HEMI is simple and proven outside some minor issues, easy to work on. The 8 speed is flawless. It rides better. You get more bang for the buck as far as features (big Horn you can get 4A, power mirrors, rear seat armrest… none available on XLT). Test drove the Hurricane and LOVED it… I’d just have to wait on that until we know longer term on the engine. 2026 has a 10 year power train warranty now too I think.

Unfortunately I think all full size trucks are so focused on every drop of gasoline that they’ve all become a bit shoddy. I don’t think consumer reports recommends a single full-size truck anymore. Before the Hurricane, the RAM was the only one they recommended and with average reliability. Every other full size was below average.

Any of these full sizers could give you a lemon these days.

If I wasn’t going to get a Full size I’d probably get a SUV of some sort. 4Runner, Grand Cherokee, something like that. I think I’d try to get something simpler and hopefully less finicky. Give up some fuel economy for a proven engine and trans and platform. I think there is a reason the simpler stuff seems to last so much longer

This is exactly why I bought a3.5l eco and not a powerboost. So much less to go wrong.

Id check the front control arms on that dodge before you buy it...

I heard that RAM is getting their act together and finally building nice trucks. If that's factual, I say go for it.

If you like Fords, look for a 5.0. This is the best truck I've had, although the 10 speed does look for gears and makes noise from time to time, but I'm used to that now.

Good luck man!

the front end of the half ton gm's is ugly enough to scare the green flies off shit.
That made me laugh out loud in my office!

I have a 24 PB. Ever since I’ve owned it it’s been in the shop every month.

had an issue with the the air vent not opening or closing correctly the day I drove it off the lot. Took 3 months for the dealer to fix

I have an issue when driving 80+mph the whole truck shakes slightly.

The transmission drives rough. It’s a slightly hard shift. It’s not smooth shifting power.

pro power onboard generator has been replaced.

Now it has a coolant leak.

Why would I keep this truck and spend my life with it at the shop? Would anyone recommend a ram?
Look like you might have a problem with your dealer, have a talk with the service manager or the regional service manager of Ford I will try another dealers if I was you try to find your actual dealer rating at Ford regional, means that bad service mean that those dealer need to keep warranted parts on hand available for review before being reimbursed by Ford if it is the case change of Dealer instead of truck,

FWIW the 2027 Silverado with the new v8 is the truck that may pry me out of this f150.
You must be talking about the revamped and re-released tried and true 5.7 liter. I’m also very curious about this truck and it might have me wanting out of my F150. I had a 2021 GMC with the 5.3 liter, and there was a lot I miss about that truck.

I'm guessing excessive power isn't one of those things...

You are correct. My Powerboost would smoke the GMC.

Ive owned 3 Rams. 2 1500s n the last was a 2020 2500. None were ever at the dealers. All were great trucks. No problems with either. So far, I like my f-150 better but time will tell.

(Watching this conversation on the sidelines, 4 months into a powerboost that failed to start after a carwash for several minutes Thanksgiving day, my 1st purchase since the flawless Honda I bought 23 years ago that I still use as a grocery gitter)

Fwiw, I spent a lot of time reading reviews of the f150 vs. others: I think yeah, these more complex new trucks have a lot of issues, and as others mentioned statistically most don't.

I'd consider that maybe you have an unlucky build. If things don't smooth out replace it with another Ford if it's more what you wanted on paper. Or another truck. Or if you really don't want problems something other than a truck if you don't absolutely need it.

Mixing all of this modern tech with a bounce mobile IS asking for problems, it just is.

I fully expected problems when I bought mine. I made jokes about starting an FFF (fix ford fund being a basket of equities and crypto shitcoins) to my family and friends.

I reminded them over Thanksgiving dinner that I came close to being late to.

Make sure you have a reliable grocery gitter.

All that being said my journey is still early and down the road I may feel worse than you do, where I am rabid, foaming at the mouth.

We shall see....

Meanwhile I truly hope these understaffed dealerships give you the relief you truly deserve.

I wouldn't count on that dip shit CEO. But at least he's not in Italy.

I’ve driven a 24 Ram with a v6
Rode nice
Transmission was VERY smooth
Handling was smooth and predictable

But…..it’s a Dodge
The interior dash layout sucks
The trans shot knob is atrocious
Seats are sub par
You pretty much it !! It's a Dodge !!

It’s not the same generation but it’s still a mopar, just diagnosed a 2020 Hemi etorque that needs a MGU (motor generator unit). Part is back ordered and my shop is 5,546 in line.. they are sending out 200 units every month. This truck will sit for almost 2 years before a new one is available. Part is about 1,400 bucks. If this happens in these trucks. I’m not implying that RAM is the only one to experience this, but this is quite ridiculous. This could easily happen anywhere, never seen this kind of back order. I guess RAM is finally first in something. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

If I were to sell my truck today, would get a Ram. The interior is nicer, and quieter IMHO. The springs front and rear makes for a nice drive. The 8 speed is far superior to the 10 speed, no matter how many "enhancements".
That has not been my experience. I have only rented Dodge trucks and my experience from 2020 til 2024 is that the interior looks nice but feels cheap the ride is tin canny. The engine (gasoline) sounds throaty and awesome but overall the truck feels like a subpar vehicle. I am no particular “fan boy” as I started with a Toyota truck in the late 80’s, had a Chevy (90’s), then a few Fords (currently a 24 F150 KR) all have been wonderful.

I could easily see anyone having a difference of opinion. All good :)
