Man sorry to hear about that. I don’t know if helpful but I would definitely try a transmission logic reset. My Powerboost was pretty bad at the start. Couple resets seemed to help. It’s still often clunky on some shifts, but it’s liveable (even if I still think it’s unacceptable compared to any other vehicle)
Coolant leak… is it just a clamp possibly? I had an air box clamp not tight from the factory. My aunt had a Focus that had a loose coolant clamp. Inexcusable assembly quality but not end of the world.
Not excusing Ford or defects but hoping maybe it will help.
As far as Ram… I was THIS close to getting Ram instead. I could use the pro power on the ford and I liked the fuel economy and generally like Ford brand better so went with F150. If I were shopping today… I'm not sure I’d do it again. PPoB is nice but isn’t as amazing as I’d hoped I’d find it. So I’d probably skip Powerboost. I’d probably try the 2.7T instead and hopefully the transmission would operate properly.
Honestly though I’d probably get a ram. The HEMI is simple and proven outside some minor issues, easy to work on. The 8 speed is flawless. It rides better. You get more bang for the buck as far as features (big Horn you can get 4A, power mirrors, rear seat armrest… none available on XLT). Test drove the Hurricane and LOVED it… I’d just have to wait on that until we know longer term on the engine. 2026 has a 10 year power train warranty now too I think.
Unfortunately I think all full size trucks are so focused on every drop of gasoline that they’ve all become a bit shoddy. I don’t think consumer reports recommends a single full-size truck anymore. Before the Hurricane, the RAM was the only one they recommended and with average reliability. Every other full size was below average.
Any of these full sizers could give you a lemon these days.
If I wasn’t going to get a Full size I’d probably get a SUV of some sort. 4Runner, Grand Cherokee, something like that. I think I’d try to get something simpler and hopefully less finicky. Give up some fuel economy for a proven engine and trans and platform. I think there is a reason the simpler stuff seems to last so much longer
