I have. ‘24 Stx with the 20” wheels and stock Hancook tires. It seems like I can feel the rougher pavement when I’m driving, especially when the temps are below freezing. Smoother pavement feels completely fine. In the winter I have the psi set to 33 (calls for 35 in the door but it feels slightly better at 33 psi). I have 3500 miles on the truck for what it’s worth.

Is this a typical thing for these trucks? Wasn’t sure if it was the tires or just cold suspension - or both? Any possible suggestions? I didn’t want to just buy “better” tires without knowing if it would help.

I will say, that is why I stay away from large rims.

Agreed. It didn’t really cross my mind since our suv has 20’s and i had a sedan with 20’s (tiny sidewall) and they ride fine. But I suppose the big wheels on a truck and it’s suspension changes the the ride significantly.

Yeah I can feel all the road imperfections in mine too, even when warm. Feel it mostly through the accelerator pedal (along with engine vibrations which seem excessive).

I think better tires could help dull those road surface vibrations. In this tirerack comparison video of truck tires, they do call a couple of the tires out as being stiffer and transmitting every road imperfection compared to the others. I was leaning on having the General Grabbers installed on mine since these reviewers seemed to say it was one of the most well rounded of the group and was not one of the stiffer ones.

Interesting. Just as a side note- did you try adding a vibration insulator behind the gas pedal? I added sorbothane to mine and it helps significantly. Engine vibrations are another story lol. I drive in tow/haul sometimes to minimize the “lugging” vibrations around town

Factory 20s on the F150 still leave ~6.5" of rubber. That's more than just about type of vehicle. The factory 20s and tires are spongy garbage even at higher PSIs. If you're under inflating and the F150 is too firm for you, it's not the wheels and tires.

I read about that and other options in other threads but haven't fully researched it yet to try it out, but I plan to. If you have a picture handy of exactly where you put it I'd greatly appreciate it if you DM it to me. So far I've only tried attaching stuff to the top of the pedal.

I mean, it's a truck.
Yeah so I expected the sloppy, unwieldy handling compared to my Mazda sedan and Explorer crossover. But I thought trucks were supposed to isolate you from the road more than unibody vehicles. On smooth pavement it certainly rides like you're on a cloud compared to the others, but on rough pavement I probably feel as much of the road if not more than those other 2 unibody cars. This is the first truck I've owned and therefore lived with on a daily basis.

The cold does change the shock dampening performance. The tire temp should climb pretty steadily so you can rule that out as a factor especially w/ reduced inflation. With the bed empty you've got quite a lot of spring back there that can throw the rear end about which you might be registering as a bad ride in general. I've got a road that I'm pretty sure gets the rear end catches some air on. As my truck has gotten heavier in the rear, it's changed it a bit. It could be attributed to speed and general resonance of the truck. Considering you've dampened the pedal, consider adding 300lbs or so in the bed and see what happens. You can get some bags of sand to put at the back of the bed near the tailgate for a few days to see what happens.

Old thread, not to be that guy but it’s not the 20 inch tires. I have had three 14th gen f150s, all with 18inch tires from factory. ‘21 had the gas pedal vibration, ‘23 did not, ‘24 has it again. All trucks were 2.7 302A with non adjustable pedals.

On my ‘21 I had a ready lift level with 20inch wheels and 295s put on by the dealer. Pedal vibration became noticeable after this, swapped out to fox shocks with the same wheels and tires and it did not fix the problem.

‘23 was stock, never did anything to it suspension wise because I figured by having the level it would bring back the pedal issue.

my ‘24 now has eibach coil overs on it and the pedal issue is more prominent than ever. Stock wheels and tires - 18s

Whenever I go to smooth pavement it rides like a dream, but if the road is significantly driven on I can feel everything though the gas pedal. It’s frustrating but I am going to drive it until something breaks.

Agreed. I had pedal vibrations and tried everything under the sun to stop it since the dealer said it’s normal.

this is what I tried and the results:

- sorbothane vibration dampening behind the pedal assembly, helps a fair amount.
-dynamat on the floor board and inside of firewall- does nothing
-gas pedal and brake pedal covers did nothing. I lined them with sorbothane, did nothing. I did 3 layers inside the cover, and strapped it onto the pedal and helps somewhat.
- what seems to help the most is playing the bolt tightnesses. I also put rubber washers with them and that kinda helps. What I found to be the “best” is tightening the top and bottom right bolts fully and backing off a bit, like about a half turn. The bottom left barely even have hand tight. The looser the better on it. This in combination with the sorbothane got rid of 90% of any vibration. Some days (windy days especially) I’ll feel a little more vibrations but at least I got it to a normal amount of vibration.

Would you mind sending me a few pictures of what you did?

Thanks!
