From front to rear:
- Key fob goes in the front water bottle holder. I’ve trained myself to always chuck the key fob in as I’m climbing into the truck. I hate sitting on the key fob if it’s in my pocket.
- pack of Kleenex and glasses case/sunglasses case in the long compartment just aft of that.
- keys for the trailer and tonneau cover in the middle (small) water bottle holder.
- a whole bunch of quarters, a small change purse, and another pair of sunglasses in a case in the rearmost compartment.

I have no use at all for the water bottle holders, and except for the key fob in the front compartment, the rest of the compartments are not being well used.

I also keep a small flashlight in the upper compartment, which I lined with a piece of rubber shelf liner to prevent rattles.

Even when using Dramamine bracelets (2), one each wrist.
Don’t ask 😎

I’m trying to build a real-world “always-in-the-door” list for 14th-gen F-150s. Not what you tossed in there today, but the stuff that lives in your lower door pocket 90% of the time. It’ll help me (and everyone here) figure out what actually fits, what rattles, and which bottle bases work.

If you’ve got a minute, drop a reply, (copy/paste is also fine!)

Which, if any, of the below items do you permanently keep in your driver's door?
-Pens/pencils/Sharpies...
-dip can/Zyn can...
-sunglasses, (in case or not)...
-business cards (how many)...
-multi-tool/leatherman....
-other folding knife...
-pistol (what make/model and does it have a light/sight)....
-tape measure (how many ft)....
-hand sanitizer (pump bottle or not)....
-water bottle/Yeti (make/size).....
-any other items not listed....

I’ll compile everyone’s answers and post it back in this thread in case anyone wants to borrow some ideas from the list.

Vendor note for transparency: I make a door organizer for these trucks, but this thread is purely data-gathering for fit/use. Thanks for sharing what works in your truck, and hopefully you can get value from this thread.

flashlight, pens/markers, hand sanitizer, wipes, gloves, common insulated screwdriver and Klein 7in1, test strips, supposed to be a bottle of silicone lube but my employee lost it, all sizes of Yeti can coolers, a few other items in rotation. I have a smaller version of this product but am interested in trying this one to take advantage of the whole door pocket. When I bought my truck, I went on a spree of “2024 f150 accessories” on Amazon and got some cool stuff. Covers for both the phone tray and side tray if you have column shift, mats for all the pockets in center console tunnel, a 3D printed insert that gives me 2 more cup holders and pen holders in the empty space for column shift, etc. Lots of cool stuff available on Amazon.

Hand sanitizer, 2 to 3 bottles of water, extra pair of reading glasses, umbrella and the keys to my dog box.

For y'all that can hear the rattles, you need to turn the music up. Nothing rattles on my truck. 😉
I keep a bottle of hand sanitizer in one of the cup holders. :) And good point about the rattles, turn up the stereo!

I keep some clean towels to wipe down my truck when I go through the car wash. We don’t have any black bears in my neck of the woods so I don’t need anything to take care of them. However- I was at the Smokey Mountains two weeks ago and some bears got up on my tonneau cover and smeared mud on it, over my cab, and down my windshield and hood. They also took a big bite out of a cooler that I left on the balcony that was empty and the lid was up to dry out.

You’ve sincerely asked for opinions and have received many wasted electrons so far.

If you design and market an insert, I would like it to accommodate:

  1. A Glock 17 (or similar), to sit muzzle down, and with a simple cover to keep it from being clocked with the door open at Wal*Mart,
  2. A tube of sunscreen,
  3. A spray bottle of bug spray,
  4. A 16 oz Yeti coffee cup,
  5. A headlight or tactical flashlight,
  6. A rag for spills,
  7. A lined, rattle-proof pocket for keys, a padlock, small tools,
  8. Upright pen and Sharpie accommodation,
  9. A tape measure,
  10. Gloves,
  11. And a digital air pressure gauge.
All items should store rattle-free.

Thanks for your initiative!

But can you manufacture and sell a solution to keep the damned console lid open on less than a flat surface? (The nickel trick doesn’t work with my Lariat lid that folds open to make a table).

I wish you fortune!

I keep a rat tourniquet and a can of HOT pepper spray im case of mild annoyances. Also keep a microfiber towelcin there usually. A 20oz yeti tumbler fits well in the cup holder part.
