Had to replace the rear brakes and rotors at 38K on my 22’ platinum…is this a normal mileage…mostly highway miles. Pic is right side.

That's pretty normal for most vehicles these days in my experience. Ton of material buildup leads to the "warped rotor" feeling. I rarely get more than 40k out of my rotors anymore, regardless of manufacturer.

I did mine at 35k (rears) And just did the fronts at 38k (pads fine but warped rotor) The fronts I understood at ~40k but the rears that quick surprised me. Thought I read somewhere on here that the rear oems could prematurely wear out and ford might have covered it under warranty. Mine pads were gone and started grinding on the way up to our cabin so didn't exactly have the luxury if finding out.

I took it in and they said it wasn't covered under warranty...said it would cost me like $600...bought the parts for $265 and did them myself...dealers are crooks on some things...

Do you happen to use the automatic cruise control a lot ? I maybe wrong but if memory servers me ot uses the rear brakes to slow down which would lead to that.

I am at 47k and my pads and rotors are still good but when I need to go down a hill I tap the brakes and let the truck coast down and when it drops to the speed where I was set at before I turn it back on.

Brakes are a wear item, they aren’t often covered beyond 12mos/12k

However, that shit ain’t normal for 38k
Assuming you don’t rode the brakes, you have a caliper slider or caliper sticking issue

As was stated above. The grooves in that rotor and pad tell me that the caliper was stuck, or you had something between them for a long time. Those grooves just don't happen. Hopefully you greased those sliding pins on that caliper really well!

That does not look right to me, especially for only 38K on the highway. It looks like foreign material got into the brakes at some point. Do you do a lot of heavy hauling or towing?

They do stone chipping on the roads around here in the summer time. Could have gotten some stones in there.

Mine are toast, on the right side, the bottom pin was froze, 34,000 miles, had zero grease inside the boot!
Question, do we have the 336mm rotor?

I’m currently at 111,115 miles on the original brakes and rotors. 38k seems way too early.

I've had this issue on my last vehicle (rear rotors go out first) and think I figured it out. It's due to road salt and driving in a manner that only requires very light braking. Normal overnight rotor rust doesn't get cleaned off and just keeps getting worse. You can see deep rust on the rotors. Pads are not even worn anywhere near the backing plates.

Never happens on the front because they get enough pressure to clean off the rust. I had fronts go 80,000 miles and had to change the rears twice in that period!

The fix is to apply the brakes a little heavier a couple times prior to parking the truck.
