Folding Shifter Delete & Rotary Knob Swap

Has anyone run into issues where you plug the shifter in and it doesn't light up? Truck says put shifter into park, but the shifter acts like it's dead?

Happening with both the stock and dial shifter now.

I would reinstall the original, then disconnect the battery for 15 minutes and reconnect and see what happens. Have you checked for any codes?

With it being a Powerboost I'm trying to figure out proper way to disconnect the battery to try that, if there is a way.

There are a few codes it's throwing in Forscan. I think what happened was I didn't pay attention and turned it on to check if the ambient lights I retrofitted worked, and the shifter was unplugged when I did.

Newer to Forscan, but when I tried it looks like I can only clear one at a time, and then it has you cycle ignition. So the one fault comes back, before I can clear the other(s).

Has anyone found out if there is a rotary knob that works with the 24+ year model trucks that run the TRON network for the shifter? Still interested in doing this if this has been figured out.

Upon further consideration I've changed my 'wants' for the knob shifter configuration ....

• I don't have the fold-out work surface, no desire for it
• I'd just as soon not have the bulky and somewhat funky feeling lever, thus my interest in the Expedition knob (nagging suspicion that the OE motorized lever GSM will be a source of problems over the long-term ownership of my truck)
• I'd rather have the knob and +/- buttons elevated so they'd be essentially flush with the surrounding trim, in easy fingertip reach with my hand resting over the front of my console armrest
• I'd like the cubby to be 'bare'

So, this is my ideal mounting ...

Dusty, the Etsy guy (MinionMakes), has graciously cancelled my previous order and expressed he might pursue a 'flush-mount' version similar to my ideal. I like that Dusty's piece uses the same mounting system as the OE lever GSM and uses screws to mount the Expedition shifter with no modification.

But first, he's focused making a tweak / improvement on his current version and getting that delivered to current customers who have had a slight fitment problem ( proper priority, IMO, and I'm not in a rush for this).

Just curious, does anyone else have an interest in a 'flush-mount' version of this mod?

I would definitely be interested in exactly what you're looking for. I have the previous version from Dusty and it's great!

I tried a 2018 expedition shifter initially and had no issues.

Yep he had a setback and had to remake some so about 4 to 5 was normal.

Did you end up using this part and thus get an answer? I am curious. The only other place I've seen it mentioned is a guy on the lightning forums supposedly have issues, but that could just be a bad part.

That’s just the engineering part number. And yes it will work.
