I recently shattered my back glass after synching down cargo with a bungee cord. The cord recoiled immediately once I removed it from a tie down and hit my glass. I noticed myriad fragments fell behind my rear seats as well as the trim behind my seats. I’ve already contacted my dealership and discussed removing this trim and having all the fragments removed.

Throughout this process I’ve learned that these places never have someone request removal of these glass fragments after back glass shattering.

Has anyone else had the dealer remove trim to take the glass fragments out? If so, did that work adequately? And if not, do most people just allow those fragments to reside where they fall til the end of time? Im quite particular about my truck and am uncomfortable with knowing there’s a mess in my cab, even behind the trim.

Mine was replaced by safelite and they didn't do a very good job of cleaning up all the glass fragments. I found tons of them earlier this year when I did my Starlink install. I also think they messed up my cargo camera, but it's not working anymore, although i can't remmember the exact last time it worked since I dont use it much.

Sounds like a shop vac and an afternoon with some hand tools are in your future. Really that is the best way to clean that up. You will take more care with your truck, than the oil change guy at the stealership will.

The cargo cameras are extremely cheap and prone to frequent failure. I have had to replace mine twice now. Once under warranty and then again out of pocket. NL3Z-19G490-A It uses a standard 6 pin analog connection that also frequently comes loose unlike the rest of the cameras that use a LIN Bus protocol. I usually keep a spare camera on hand since it only takes about 5 minutes to pull the third brake light assembly out to replace the camera and best part is no recalibration is needed afterwards.

I’m afraid that you may be right. Unfortunately I’m deficient in using the tools necessary to carry that work out. There is a guy at the dealership who had to strip trimming away at my front panel to fix a rattle, and he’s the one who I will have perform this job as well. He apparently is their best guy for that kind of work.

I take video of my interior/trim/paint etc. along the areas that require addressing during these jobs before taking my truck to the dealership to monitor for damage during repair. I had them replace a piece of trim that was nominally damaged after the aforementioned repair job. The bad thing about this job is that there could be damaged on components that I would never see after having the seats reinstalled. I may have to have them let me see the paneling and trim once the seats are out and the fragments have been removed…
