I ordered the Leer and sent it right back the same day I put it on my truck. I couldn’t comprehend why they would leave the 2nd to last panel without a latch to lock to the rail. I was able to pull it up enough to get an arm inside the bed. I had a bakflip MX4 on my last truck and would recommend the Bak 10 times over before the leer if you are strictly looking for a folding cover
I have the LEER HF650M and you got me wondering. So I just came back to verify my cover and I'm not sure how you were able to get your arm inside of it. The only panel without a latch is the second from the tailgate. I guess if you used a pry bar to force it maybe. In that scenario someone who want to steal from it won't bother and will force it enough to break it open

I should’ve taken a picture so I could show it. Either way, I can’t understand why you wouldn’t have a panel that latches down….makes no sense

I installed the 650, and think it's great. I've never had a cover before at all, so I have nothing to compare it to. I did like the lack of wide rails, drain tubes, etc. I do expect it to keep out honest people, but not shed off a monsoon. I think my expectations have been met.

Anyone know of a good deal on the Leer HF650M? Think I am finally going to pull the trigger on one. Thanks

Update: After two rain events, the bed was still dry (y).

I wasn’t driving in the rain, truck was sitting outside but I feel confident my stuff won’t get wet.
how’s this cover holding up after 2.5 yrs? I’m considering it for my 21

Anyone that has this cover have the pro-access tailgate? Or do you know why Leer says it’s not compatible with PAT? My new truck with PAT in inbound and I want to install this cover and my local dealer (like me) can’t figure out why they say it’s incompatible. Maybe just not as waterproof with extra seems the PAT has? That all?

I have one on my 24 with PAT. No issues at all and I really don't notice any additional water coming in the back. It is the best cover out there in my opinion. There is a guy on the other board that sells them at a discount and I've ordered a few of them from him over the years. I believe they are ~ 950 shipped. Best price around and it ships quickly. Message me if you want his name.

I also have a 24 F150 with PAT, not only does it fit but it was easy to install. Did it by myself in about 30 minutes. I really like features such as quad fold so it doesn’t interfere with brake lights, support rods so it doesn’t rub against the cab when fully opened and seems more secure with the cynch latch system. I recommend this cover.

I had the backflip, I removed it and sold it. I installed the Lear 650 M.

The little end trim on the backflip off twice. The latch mechanism slipped once. One of the panels was showing corrosion after less than a year of ownership. The MX4 is a piece of shit.

We’ll have to see how Leer holds up.

as far as the arm thing, any of these covers can be defeated with a large screwdriver. These are not super secure as they say they only keep the honest people honest.

The Leer at least has the pinch open instead of the wire, so it can't be opened with a coat hanger, right?

Where did you order yours from?

I'm between bakflip and leer and it seemed like Leer was slightly harder to break into.

Wanted to add my experience with this cover since I've had mine installed for a couple months now.

Pros: looks great, feels solid, doesn't lean against the cab when folded, no drain lines to worry about, very little to no water intrusion despite being parked/driven through many FL downpours and one carwash.

Cons: install was harder than it should be due to inadequate instructions - no paper ones included in the box and the video on the website was a little too fast-paced and skipped some details as well as being outdated as they have changed the style of the clamps at the front of the bed since the OP

Side note: Be aware that the cover and inside of the bed get -extremely- hot in the sun and can burn you and damage heat sensitive cargo.

I'm very happy with the cover overall and it has been worth the money as we have been moving and having the bed available as an enclosed cargo space has been immensely helpful.

How hard is this one to take off and put back on if folding up isn't giving enough space?
It should be fairly easy: fold up the cover, unbolt the 2 clamps holding it to the bed rails, and lift it off. It is heavy so you might want a 2nd person to help but it's doable with 1 person.

thank you!

my main concern now is getting their customer service to respond to a question about shipping times... bakflip through real truck responded immediately.

the getting hot in the sun - that's going to be the case for any tonneau cover right?

It took a little bit for mine to ship directly from LEER so I sent an email inquiring about it. They responded a few days later with a ship date and tracking number showing it had already shipped a couple days prior. It is pretty standard to get an email when your item ships so that was mildly annoying but not a major inconvenience.

Getting hot in the sun would affect any cover that's black, but admittedly it's been decades since I had a truck with a cover on it and I only remembered it in hindsight after literally burning myself trying to open the cover one sunny afternoon, lol. The metal covers like this one might absorb and radiate the heat more readily, though vs other materials.
