It failed due to some hash error on the server side. Nothing you did wrong. You have to wait for them to resend it.

I appreciate you looking at that for me. Possible dumb question, but do you think making changes in Forscan could also cause errors? When I first bought the truck, I made changes in Forscan to try to activate the Glare-Free operation in the headlights but never could get it to work, so I just left the changes and never reverted them back to stock.

No that would not cause an issue.

Hi. I think my Ford dealer is messing with me. Or they are fleecing Ford. And me.

Fordpass nor Ford.com nor the NHTSA site show any open recalls for my truck vin. But I still have the old max tow axles with the bolts. Apparently the dealer marked the recall complete when I took it in for the recall June 3. I went and picked it up June 13 while we waited for backorder new axles. NO RECALL DONE. But apparently marked as complete.

Now I am suspicious as to whether any of the previous recalls were actually performed.. or just marked as such...

Is there any way to see CLOSED recalls on my truck via FDRS? Vin 1FTFW1ED5MFB13052. I want to confirm every one was actually done now.

Thanks.

i looked in PTS... I did not see any recalls listed... i did see CSP 24N04 for a EGR heat shield.. i looked in the history.. i did not see any thing on the rear axel recall being done.. but i think only fdrs and pts show programming updates but I'm sure some one else maybe able to help more on this.

Vehicle still shows as a Canadian VIN, so I cannot risk running it in FDRS.

I can also tell you the vehicle is getting sent updates, but they are not going through. The truck is not pinging the server back to accept it. You can try disconnecting the negative cable from the 12v battery for 20 minutes to reset the modules to see if that works to let it go through.

The other thing is the country code in the TCU is still set for Canada. The vehicle seems to be talking to the cloud, but the country code is not correct for a vehicle in the US. I don't think that is the reason the OTA is not going through, but if you have FORScan, I can tell you where to change it to the US.
Is there any way for the VIN to be updated to not show as Canadian? or is that pretty much set in stone at sale?

There is no way to change that AFAIK.

Interesting. I know I had a wiper motor recall. Took it in and they said they did it. I know they messed with it because they damaged the left wiper blade. Seems like we had another recall or so along the way. I guess I should have kept the letters.

But indicating passed for the axle seems wrong. If I sold this vehicle there is no way the new owner would know a recall was still pending. Everything indicates the recall has been completed. Even the NHTSA site no longer shows the axle recall open.

I started looking at the NHTSA site to figure out how to report this "error" and didn't find anything helpful....

Ford VIN Breakdown
The VIN is an 17-digit code that provides specific information about your Ford vehicle.

  • Digits 1-3: World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI)
    • Digit 1: Indicates the country of origin. For Ford, this is often 1, 4, or 5 for the United States.

    • Digit 2: Signifies the manufacturer. An "F" indicates Ford.

    • Digit 3: Specifies the vehicle type or manufacturing division.
The VIN shows where the car was manufactured etc. The manufacturer knows where the car was headed/sold. You don't need to change the VIN... but Ford's records.

I worded that poorly, this is what I mean, is there a way to update Ford's records for my VIN. I'm not gonna hold my breath but thought I'd ask.

I've been having trouble with intermittent Carplay connectivity issues for most of the time I've had my 2021 Job 2. Took it to the dealer several times while in warranty to fix and they ran software updates but never fixed it. Now that my warranty has expired, of course they come out with a TSB for that which seems to require a ton of updates. So I'm wondering if the issue is that my truck needs more software updates that aren't happening OTA. My last OTA update was about a year ago so I assume I am behind on updates and will need to use FDRS to manually update. Before I go and spend a ton of money to pay the dealer to do this or to buy the mongoose cable and power supply and license for DIY, could somebody please check FDRS to see if my suspicion is correct that I have a bunch of updates pending? Thanks!!

I know someone on the Mach E forum with a Canadian FDRS license. I'll ask him to check.
