I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out what this sound (loose change/is and was curious to see if any of you guys have heard it on your trucks. This is a 2022 F150 PowerBoost Lariat.

Things to note:

  1. The noise happens if I jump on the truck even when its off so I don't believe its engine/trans related
  2. In the video I'm tapping the brakes which is when the noise seems to happen consistently.
  3. It also happens when I tap the gas from a dead stop.

Definitely seems the loudest at the front of the truck. Might see if you can have someone roll it forward while you walk along to really identify where exactly it's coming from. Depending on how many miles you have on it you may want to pull the front wheels off and inspect the brakes to make sure there's nothing going on there since you said it's related to when they are applied.

Doing a roll along is a great idea, I'll give that a shot today. At first I thought it was the front left so I pulled the wheel off and checked everything out but everything seemed fine, including the brakes which were just replaced maybe 5k miles ago. I'll give the roll a shot and see if its maybe something on the right side.

I've used the walk along a bunch of times to identify the area where an annoying sound was coming from. Hopefully it helps you find it. did the sound start up after the brakes were replaced? Could even be a dust shield lightly rubbing against one of the rotors.

Nope, it didn't start after. Its probably been 6-7 months since the brakes were done. That doesn't rule them out, it could be the retainer clips or something. Either way, I'll try the roll method to at least isolate it to a specific side and go from there lol

UPDATE: It was brake related. The front left caliper was completely loose and the dealer also didn't grease any of the components that need it. The brakes were done at the dealer right before I bought the truck.

Yet another reason I'll never use a dealer for anything.

I have been fighting this same issue. 22 xlt. My brakes were serviced by the dealer last year. I started hearing that creaking and tore all brakes apart and found slide pins had very little grease. I l cleaned everything up and retightened and it seemed alright for a day, but its back! I need to dig further into mine. Just interested if you truly got it to go away, or if its returned, or will return.

I had no grease at all, on the pins, the back of the pads or on the retainers. Its only been a day so far but no more issues.

Thanks man, I was surprised at the lack of grease on the pins, even finding some light surface rust, but I cleaned it all up and greased them and the retainers. I'm going to have to do the pads, its the only thing I have left.
