currently shopping for an extended warranty for my PowerBoost, and many people have recommended Granger. However, I've noticed that they charge a 10% administrative fee.

While Ford advertises interest-free financing on their Extended Service Plan (ESP), and Granger seems to as well, this hidden fee effectively increases the total cost. For an ESP priced at $3,245.00, Granger adds a $324.50 fee, bringing the total to $3,569.50. because this admin isn't included when you pay in full this effectively is a 10% interest rate you are paying completely upfront

This practice is misleading and frustrating. I know Granger reads this forum. You guys suck

Edit: To be clear, I'm not complaining about the price of the product. I'm complaining about how Ford offers interest-free financing, but Granger takes it away from you by charging a 10% fee for using the financing.

Hmmmmm. I paid 1/2 the price in ‘22 on my ‘21 XLT Powerboost, with the premium for headlight coverage to boot. Coverage time/miles will dictate and cost.

My '22 had about 36,500 on it and was a CPO Gold and within the limits to still get new vehicle pricing, just barely by a few months. I paid much less than that with Granger to take it to 10 years 125,000 miles from in service date. No complaints about them at all.

I got the best plan, to 2031 or 100k, for $2050

Maybe because of PowerPoint parts expense

I think there are two different sites out there that you can buy the warranty through from them, Pretty sure one comes out to be more than the other. I got a 5 year 75K Premium care ESP with LED coverage through https://grangerwarranty.com/ and even with financing and fees it was about 1.2K less than going directly to Ford.

Could do that but one major issue like say the transmission or OEM LED headlight fails on you would easily wipe most if not all of it out in one event. With the ESP and options that would be most likely be covered along with day one rental and only be out the deductible if you have one, and still have coverage afterwards.

My gripe isnt the overall cost but rather the 10% charge imposed when using fords interest free financing to buy the ESP

I had a sister buy a maverick off the lot from Granger. Ended up being a bad experience. The finance guy talked her into a ridiculously priced aftermarket warranty which was eventually cancelled. I had mentioned to the guy that she needed a Ford esp warranty so I guess he did this out of spite?

Ended up pricing the three places I knew of online. Ziegler which is where I bought my warranty in 22 and now was higher priced than the other two.
Granger which was way cheaper on a Ford warranty versus whatever the aftermarket one she got talked into.

And Flood Ford. Flood Ford was the exact price as Granger when you do it online. This was bought outright so I don't know about fees.

Anyway she went with Flood Ford because of the hassle went through with Granger.

I doubt if she will ever deal with them again and after all that I'm thinking to myself that they aren't the only game in town when it comes to my next truck.

It's called capitalism and expected for resellers to add 10-15% margin to products/services they sell. Unless you buy directly from the factory you're going to end up paying a portion of a company's operating costs when you buy retail.

Every time an extended warranty is available for any product, put the equivalent money in an investment account. You will have a nice pile when you retire.
