Hey all,
Since my 2021 3.5 ecoboost with 112,000 miles got totaled, I'm looking at a 2021 F-150 Lariat PowerBoost with 91k miles. According to the Carfax, it seems pretty well maintained with regular oil changes and transmission/transfer case fluid done early.
Part of what draws me to the PowerBoost is the Pro Power Onboard generator, along with the smooth idle compared to the regular EcoBoost and the improved fuel economy.
What’s giving me pause is reading about the “Stop Safely Now” message that some owners have experienced. My plan, if I move forward, is to have a thorough inspection done by a Ford dealership before purchase and to also purchase an extended service plan to help cover any major repairs down the line.
Also, have any of the TSBs, recalls, or software updates over the past few years made a noticeable difference in reliability or addressed major issues with the PowerBoost system? For those who have owned or currently own a PowerBoost, do you think a detailed inspection from a Ford dealer would help ease concerns about the “Stop Safely Now” problem, or is it the kind of issue that can appear without much warning?
Appreciate any honest feedback.
